  • Snap ring pliers

Putting my axles in my max 2 I needed to use snap ring pliers. I went and bought a pair of craftsman which were the best ones I could find around here on short notice. all I can say is they don't work very well even after modifying the tips. it seems the snap rings pop off the pliers very easy and it makes it next to impossible to remove a snap ring.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a good pair of pliers to use. in the drive train manual it gives a part number of a heavy duty pair but I cant trace it back to a manufacture. I found ones from Knipex (link below) that seem to be good but without some recommendation I don't want to spend 30$ on another useless tool.

    Thanks

      hi,
Knipex are good circlip pliers .They are one of the few brands that do different pliers for different shaft size . By doing this u will not have to grind the tips to suit .
There is the ratchet style but I suspect only available in a size suitable for larger shafts [interchangeable tips ]

After getting frustrated with my crappy pliers I bought the Channelock ones and I'm happy with them. They were on the shelf at Home Depot so getting them was pretty easy.

The K-D 3494 is available at napa under that # they are my loaners for people out in the field. .090 tips at 90 degrees. I use them more than my big ones that ratchet to lock open, just faster.

Snap on srpc9090A works great also
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.
