  • Traction boards / recovery boards / sand ladders?

So Running a Scrambler with no reverse it often helps to keep going forward, a simple trick is to use two 10 foot long 6x1 inch pine boards, I’ll jam those under the front tires as very slippery recovery boards. I’ve been meaning to increase their traction effectiveness but not sure the best rout. Pretty much the usefulness of such products as “Maxtrax” “Treds” or those fiberglass waffle boards as sand / mud ladders. There is ways to make homemade ones and seeing as these machines weigh considerably less than a full sized 4x4 rig I would think we could get away with something lighter duty yet longer. Anyone on here experiment with making your own Traction ladders?

Was out in the forest for the first time in my Scrambler, should have waited for the snow to melt more before heading out. Trying to turn up hill in a foot deep snow drift with no momentum ended my progress. This was the 3rd time I've used these 2x6 pine board mud ladders, and the first time they have failed. I even sheared one of the screws holding on the 1/2x1/2 aluminum angle bar on the middle of the ramps.
