I went to Mc Master Carr to see how much a 50' roll of 530 0 ring chain would cost. There were so many options and I am not sure what to ask for. I would like to upgrade the chain in my project machine. It has the small 40 chain in it now. I do have to get different sprockets! That will be in the want adds! Could someone please advise on what to ask for! Thanks. Bryan

I don't think McMaster Carr allows you to choose what brand chain you get do they? If not, I would purchase from somewhere else. First, find the brand chain that you want. Search the forum and see what people are using and what they have good luck with. You can't go wrong with the USA version of the Diamond brand chain (not the Chinese Diamond) but there are other brands that are cheaper. Then, find somewhere either online or locally that sells it and go from there.

Keep an eye on ebay. I have found lots of good deals on quality chain (non-china). Some brands to keep in mind are Diamond & Tsubaki.

Buy a good brand name chain! I recently used peer chain on my maxiv . pulled a link on first test drive, I should know better tsubaki supplied my chains for my top fuel bike,back in the day!i guess ill need to spend some money now, good luck Mark

Millerperf is right don't waste money on peer chain, its made in china.. pot metal junk.

Thanks guys. Out of town at the moment on a family matter. Won't be able to get at this project machine till then. I do want good chain and enough to do both of my maxll's. I already have more in parts than I paid for the machine. I'm Having fun with it! The 1980 has a windshield and a roll bar. I have access to a mandrel bender an all the heavy duty exhaust pipe I want. After I build the first one, if it comes out right, I will make them for people on this site. If anyone would like one. You will have to paint them your self. I need one for my 93! So if you would like one let me know. Most likely next month before I get to it. Thanks again guys. Bryan
