  • body bound bolt

    just wanted to make sure that i'm on the right track before i assemble my axles. the shoulder of the bolt comes throught the axle, and will transition from shoulder to thread inside the spacer, then cut off the excess thread. sound right?

    Hey Racer...
    Yup. That's what she should look like. Some people like to use jam nuts, some people like to use lock washers. Some people do a combination of both. They'll still eventually come loose, regardless.

      Yes, that looks right.
      The thread on the body bound bolt was to also address the fit of the bolt inside the hole. A true body bound bolt needs pounded in with a hammer so there is NO slop in the connection.
      Aircraft bolts AN are closer to actual dimensions than hardware store bolts.
      Aircraft NAS bolts are even closer.
