  • 6x6 in the morning

Morning fellas. I posted on here quite awhile back with this same title and was shopping around for a deal on a 6x6. Then.... my financial situation changed and that all went out the window. But, I'm back looking again. Not entirely sure what for yet, but looking just the same.

I want to be clear that I know very little about these machines other than what I see in youtube videos and such. I am leaning towards a Max IV though once again. Something about that machine just appeals to me. I have a wife and two kids so the seats are good and the bench seating seems better than the Argo side-facing rear seats. I'm like an hour west of Gainesville Florida and would hopefully be able to make it up to South Carolina for some of the big rides you guys go on. When was the last and when is the next? Also, hope to be joining your ranks soon!

Busco Beach is the next big ride on the calendar. October 9-11. A few start arriving Thursday and staying until Monday morning. If you can make it come on. You don't have to have a machine ready to go. You can always hop in the back seat and ride.

Hi Nathan, just my opinion. You will like the Max for your family. Argo's are awesome machines but they do tend to be nose heavy and really swing the back end around in turns. A good hard, sudden turn in an Argo 6x6 (the 8 wheelers seem a little more stable) could easily launch your kids into the middle of next week. The Max has the seating a little more forward. Member liflod drove a Max IV with his wife in front and three kids on the back seat for many years.

Joe brings up a good observation. I have an argo conquest 8x8 and it really throws the rear end around in turns. The argo with engine weight in front turns are made with the pivot area at your knees. My huslter with its rear engine the turn point is back behind the driver and the front does the big swinging turns.

I think you'd be happy with a MaxIV. I have one and I don't want to prejudice other machines, so I'll just say this. Mine works fine and the kids get to ride in it with no problems. If you plan on putting tracks on it then I would look for a machine with an engine larger then the 18 hp. Just a thought. Good luck and keep us informed on what you do.

I've owned both an Argo Avenger and a Max IV. I can say that I favor the Max IV. It serves our purposes a bit more. I dud enjoy the Avenger, it worked very well. The Max IV is a bit if what we want.
Of the two I recommend the Max IV.
