Hey everyone. New guy to the site and what an awesome site it is! I've been wanting an AATV for a lot of years but never knew which one and basically didn't know a whole lot about them. After hours and hours reading different posts, guess what? I know a lot more about them BUT I still can't decide. I read a bunch of good stuff about the Argo and made up my mind that I wanted an Argo. Then I read a bunch of good stuff about the Max and decided I wanted a Max instead. Back and forth, back and forth. Hahaha. I think Ill probably go look at both and decide from there. One thing that lately really has me swaying twords the Argo is...... I'm an avid Ice fisherman and that is mainly what I would be using it for. Granted which ever one i decide will need tracks. Ive been watching some you-tube videos on both models. I see a lot of videos of the Argos going across ice and falling through and crawling right back out. I have yet to see a video of a Max that is able to do that. Is there just no videos of that, or does the Max not do so well (get stuck, unstable, etc) when that happens? Thanks!!!!!!!!

The Max would be able to do that as good or better than the Argo. There probably just aren't a lot of videos of the Max in that terrain. Your best bet is the drive a Max and an Argo before you get your mind set on one or the other and then decide from there.

Argo's weigh more so they probably break through the ice more often.

Ok thanks for the reply guys. That's good to know. Doesn't help my decision any, but it's good to know a Max can handle that action. I figured either one regardless will float better than my Polaris Sportsman that I use for fishing now. Yea that's what I'm gonna have to do is just go drive a couple and see which one feels better to me.

Either make are fine machines. Each has dinstinctive engineering and design quirks as well. Where the rubber hits the trail however, both are more than capable machines.

There are several styles of tracks available for either make. You can also just run the machine with tires and depending upon what conditions you are in, tires are usually adequate for most conditions. For the most challenging conditions, tracks are the way to go.

I think whichever machine you go with, your ice fishing will make a great leap forward.

I think your last sentence in your reply Noel, was an understatement. HAHAHA! Its going to be amazing to go out on early or late ice n not worrying about dying if you fall through.

As Noel said both machines are capable. I've seen the ice walk out videos and as impressive as they are I've yet to see one with a Max iether. I was going to try it early ice but missed my window of opportunity. In a real life situation if one were to break through chances are you'd be loaded with gear and an extra person on board and possibly a cab and windshield wich wouldn't help matters. I wouldn't try walking out if I broke through in the middle of a lake until help arrived incase you get halfway out and slide back in crooked as I have done on tires. By the way a Max IV will float when full of water ( guess how I know that lol) to help answer your question as to which machine would best suit you you'd have to narrow it down to cost and six or eight wheels depending on how much room you need. Good luck on your decision.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

Obviously not being an expert on ice I don't think I'd be real trusting of any of these machines on thin ice. What if the ice broke off on one side? You might go sideways in the hole and sink. I'm sure lots of the guys here are ice experts and can tell us.
