  • Kill engine on the water?

Anyone ever just kill the engine in the middle of the lake and just float around a bit..?

Would this cause water to flow in through the exhaust or anything that would prevent it from starting again?

I know about bilge pumps, I plan to install one.
But i don't see anyone with the engine off just floating about, expiriences please?

As long as everything is ship shape there should be no problem, just remember that the AATV's are not a boat and are not made for waves or wind.

Alright I appreciate it. See I've been watching all these 6x6 compilations and I haven't seen anyone just floating abroad in one so I didn't know if there was a reason for that or not.
So I will have to be among the first to take videos of a fishing trip in a atv. Lol

I do it all the time(fishing),as long as the drain plugs are in and the axle bearings and seals are good you can be in water as long as you wish.

I think you don't see it a lot because there's nothing exciting to see from a video standpoint other than the fish that you catch. I've floated mine for a couple of hours while fishing without any issues. I don't know of an ATV that would have the exhaust under the water though? What ATV do you have?

I shut my motor down for fishing or just for the peace and quiet. Here's mine running off the trolling motor only.

I'm just sitting in the Argo floating around. My dog is doing all the swimming.

Mines a 94 max II. I just didn't know for sure about the exhaust because it's right above the tires. I need a new one because the welds are broken before the muffler. I also need new tires it's got the Goodyear raw hides but they are badly weather checked.

I'm trying to decide if I should rebuild the tranny because the fluid came out gray. Also missing the vented cap? They guy I bought it from never put the vented cap bolt back in. :/

What Joe refuses to admit, is that the Argo died out on the water and his dog had to tow him back to shore.

Heck with the Argo, where can I get a dog like that. Lol
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

That is really a cool picture. You can't do that down here-you won't get your dog back. The gators would love to see this.

I float around fishing from my vanguard II all the time. I go out as far from shore as a km with no worries people tell me to be carefull those things aren't ment for waves but I never have any problems. Install a bilge pump and make sure it's working before you go out. Have a bailing can as well. I am going to install a second bilge for piece of mind. Like if the wind picks up and waves start swamping me I'll run both. I also run a large marine deep cycle battery relocated to the rear of the machine. The weight in the back with the deep cycle and 2.5hp 4 stroke merc makes the front of the Argo dive less and handles waves a lot better. If you are replacing the exhaust maybe you could run it up higher although I have no experience with maxx machines. Either way a couple bilge pumps are cheap just use a couple marine through hulls and route the hoses away from heat or chains and your good.
