  • Spreading The Fever

Tonight I had to babysit my 2 year old daughter. So, rather than sit around and watch Spongebob, we decided to go exploring on the Argo. After going about a mile down the power line, we came up to the lake that Mike & I had played on while the water was down this winter. The area is covered with water now and rather swampy. We played in the water for a while and then started going through weeds that were about 3-4 feet tall. As I was bouncing in & out of the ditches that snaked through this area, I could see people watching on the bank, so I decided to go over and say hello. It turned out to be one of my new neighbors and he and his friend were in awe over what we were doing in the Argo. He said the same words that I did when I saw one two years ago, "I gotta have one!" It was starting to get dark, but I promised to take him riding soon. Hopefully, we have another Amphib owner in the making.

I am kinda lucky where I live in Ontaio there are loads of trails to ride around my home. I usually get out for at least and hour a night.(more often than not with my 11 year old daughter) It gives us time to reflect on HER day. The neighbors are used to seeing the two of us exploring the back forty. We are always challenging OUR machine and finding new trails where there were none before. Not to mention helping out a stuck neighbor on more than one occasion. KT is getting old enough and skilled enough to want to drive and it is getting to the point where I am riding shot gun more than I like to admit. But who can blame her shes daddy's girl and shes "GOT THE FEVER".

I want to give a shout out to my cousin Steve who got me and my family into this and Don Sills Argo for the great price on the machine and excellent service! My 2008 Frontier has 150hours on it already, miles of smiles.
Ya ain't stuck til the winch cable comes out!!!

Living in sw ontario close to lake st.clair and rondeau bay we use our argo for ice fishing in the winter. At times it is like a small city out on the ice and on every trip someone always approaches us to look and ask questions about our machine. Probably the best "headturner" i've ever owned when driving it or on the trailer travelling back and forth.

I live near a county park developed specifically for off-road vehicles such as: dirt bikes, quads, jeeps & 4x4 trucks of all sizes. EVERY time I show up with my Argo Conquest 8x8, I get Major looks as I pull in, take it off the trailer, do a 180 turn & head out to the many trails and mud pits that abound there!!
The BIGGEST kick is when a quad or jeep/truck gets stuck in the mud and I motor right up to them, have them hook-up to the winch or, clamp onto the receiver hitch in the rear, and then, just pull or back out with thier machine in tow without breaking a sweat!! THEN the questions we ALL hear start...
WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE!?!?!?!? How much do they cost? etc.
The final Jaw-Dropping event comes when I dash into the lake to clean off the majority of mud before re-trailering my Argo. They really don't believe AATV's are amphibious until they see it for themselves!!

Amphibious: can operate on land and water

Had the same experience at the lake. People gather at (or stand in small groups ,talk low and point) the machine and as i am loading the 9.9 onto the back. First question is: are you going to take it into the water? Then the next question is, " will it float in deep water?". I get tickled at these questions. Maybe there is something different about the water density in deeper water. What really blows their mind is as they are loading and unloading their boats i either just drive in or out of the water and park on my trailer. They all are quiet interested about these machines but there are very few of these around. Until this site i knew of only one in a 20 mile radius, outside of the dealer i purchased mine at. As i have found out we are more than i thought!!!!!!!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Every weekend I put my 208tt in the truck and head over to my parents 60 acres. It is my playground with a creek, pond and woods. I see people at intersections and sidewalks.... checking her out. I sometimes go to the "suck me dry" station(AKA gas station) and people are always looking at it like, whats that. A couple people have asked about it and shared stories. Its just cool the crowds they draw but if everyone had one it wouldnt draw a crowd either so...

Hey Mister is that a tank?

Went riding today, a friend asked me if i would come and take the older people on the trails since they would not ride 4-wheelers and did not want to get muddy. There was probably 10 or 12 4-wheelers there.

A very small child walked up as i was unloading with eyes as big as plates and said, "Hey Mister is that a tank?". Answered the question and a few more, as he ran off saying that some man has a tank, i just laughed.

I pulled my machine up to where we usually park and went to find out the plan of the day. Talked with my pal for a few minutes and then he asked if anyone wanted a ride and they replied there is no room. As usual the word was out! There were kids in every seat ready to go. First trip out to the first mud hole there was a stuck 4-wheeler the kids were excited. I pulled around the stuck vehicle and backed into the very long mud hole and hooked up to the atv. Let one of the older kids work the throttle and as we eased out of the mud hole she was thrilled. Her first pull out.

Questions were asked about the Avenger, abilities discussed. One little child asked her dad if they could get one and he told her that they were kinda expensive. Her reply: But this don't get stuck like ours! I had to contain myself, that was funny. It was all in the way she said it.

All in all it was a great day, we had mud, it rained a little and made the trails even better, we rode for about 4 hours.

As discussed in another tread: Most people do not know these machines are still being made. The main focus is 4-wheelers and they(riders) were all covered with mud.

                            We are a little unique!
