So it looks like you need a 22' trailer to fit 2 8x8s. My truck has a towing capacity of 6500lbs. I thought about building wooden ramps to park the argos in a trailer sitting on a 45 degree angle so you could fit two in a shorter enclosed trailer like a 16'. Anyone tried this type of thing?

I built a hoist with battery powdered winch to lift one of ours up and a placed a set of stands to fit under front wheels for main support when we went to a show and needed to fit more items in the trailer. Worked great! You idea with set angled ramps would do same. I thought I had some pictures of it, but I can't find them at the moment.

Two 8x8 HDI argos at a 45* angle calculates out to 14.97 feet of floor space. They should fit nicely in a 16' V-nose. You could hook the front argo to an overhead frame using the winch cable and winch it into position. Cross strap it to the walls from the front, and strap the back to the floor pulling down and rearward at the same angle as the winch cable. Then you'd just need one set of ramps for the rear argo. The ramps need to be 79" long, with the base and height at 56". Still need to winch the rear argo up onto the ramps. The ramps would need to attach to the walls for stability, I would devise something to pin them into. The total height would be 86.8" and that's the limiting factor here. The 16' triton trailer specs at 87" ceiling height. So you'd have that argo winched right up against the ceiling till it compresses the top of the nose. In that case I'd change up the angle of the ramps to drop the nose down a bit so there's no contact. You still have some floor length room to play with, since it's a v-nose. However, if you have 2 conquests like I would if I bought a second one, they're 8" shorter than an HDI, no problem. This could work.
Edit: For two HDIs and one 16' Triton PR-167 at 1750lbs. you're looking at 4570lbs which pretty much maxes out that trailer and my truck at 6500lbs. Only 3758 lbs. with 2 conquests. I've used HDIs in the calculations because I figure that's the heaviest and largest one I'll ever need to carry in the future.
Also I didn't account for the wheel wells inside the trailer. That throws a wrench into everything. I'm thinking build a steel frame in the center and put the two argos nose to nose and winch both front ends up so they're touching. Might have to use an old tire as a cushion between the two noses. Anyway that's easier, no ramps required. Actually now I'm picturing how puny the little frame is that supports the winch. I'd just attach a winch to the trailer ceiling and winch them up with rigging straps around the front axle hubs instead. Then do some fancy work with tie down straps to secure everything.
Now the biggest hurdle is buying the dam trailer that's worth 3 times as much as both argoes....
Ok I'm done my morning coffee, I'll shut up now.Last edited by Coast2Coast; 04-01-2016, 01:24 PM.
