Legal in the city ?

Ok heres a bit of a wierd question, testing members knowledge of Canadian law... My brother was bugging me yesterday to take the beast on a short run, down Oshawa creek.... I live in the city of Oshawa, its a city .. Not a rural town.. Not in the country... Oshawa creek runs through the city and ends at Lake Ontario. He was convinced we should be able to just take my Argo down the creek and back again.. So my question is, is this legal ?

Kris, I know the creek your talking about and if it were me and I had easy access, I'd be all over it lol. To answer your question though, no it is not legal to operate them within Oshawa city limits unless your on private property. If you do and get stopped you better have your ownership, insurance and drivers lic ready if you want a snowballs chance in hell of talking your way out of any tickets.

Edit: If you want, I can show you to a nice little spot in Pickering that is well suited to Argoing around. A variety of terrain, dirt trails, mud, creek, swamp, ponds, beaver dams, good stuff.

I'm not from anywhere near you but with my obsession for spending hours looking at satellite and overhead imagery for hunting/fishing I naturally checked google maps to the area in question. Most of the length of Oshawa Creek running through Oshawa looks to run through parks, golf clubs, and conservation areas. I would say it'd be pretty tempting to go for a run in the argo down that. However I think it's safe to say with the way things are today you'd be getting a swift kick in the keester when lil granny down the street sees you blundering over her favorite family of ducks watering hole in a crazy contraption, and calls the fish cops on you . Be careful if you do, and take videos and post them here. Argo videos are the best!

Awesome thanks guys, thats pretty much what i figured..im glad my brother (& the scotch) didn't win the day and have me motoring off to the creek.. Also thanks Steve for the invite, & the advice/ reminder about ownership, lic. & Insurance etc. (Cuz you know i still dont have any of those) lol.. hopefully ill have the old girl ready some day to take a ride with you.. I cant believe how much is needed, basically i think Pa stopped doing maintenance all together about 5 yrs ago.. I need chains, a few sprockets , tires, a couple wheel bearings, Plus, plus etc... I have no choice but to restore it, (& i love working on it) but.. (& i dont mean to whine, i know everyone has problems, so i apologize) We are having a tough yr. financially... But it WILL get done.. A little at a time
