  • Engine degreaser to remove grease from argo plastic body ?

I used a bit of " Gunk engine degreaser" on a small spot of ground in grease on the top of the plastic & it worked awesome but i washed it & dried it right away so it wasnt on long.. i wanna try it on the rest of my machine, in the engine bay especially . but I would have to let it sit on the grease for a whil to break it down because it's so heavy in there... I am worried about leaving it on the plastic, i'm afraid it might warp or eat the plastic if left on. Has anyone done this before ? Yay or nay ?

yay,i have the same stuff. it works great!! i spray some in a PLASTIC butter container and soak my chain links in there and there has been no damage to the plastic as far ive seen ive used it on the engine itself and i guess you can use it on plastics too. if you really want to be sure just use some soap and water and/or S.O.S pads. by the way hop over to my 'magnum winch hoop' post and let me know how your winch is set up!

as a retired mechanic and now a car detailer i can say you need to be careful with degreaser on plastic you can dry it out and make it brittle or chalky just make sure you add a rubber and plastic protectant/renewer

I use the cleaner Walmart and other stores sell, its called "Super Purple" its a great degreaser yet not so strong that it dries out the body. I have used more industrial style heavy duty cleaners that did in fact dry the plastic out, no problems however if you come back afterwards with a can of the WD 40 super blaster, and moisturize the plastic after cleaning.
