  • Outer bearing opinions?

I've searched thru the site looking for info on the outer axle bearings for my superchief. All my bearings seem to be ok and ive sealed up the flanges, but I'm still getting a fair amount of water leakage.....and its only when the axles are turning. I can let it float for a while and not a drop. So i'd like to replace the bearings, but what are my options? Ive got the fafnir replacement #, but i'm wondering if there is something better available, like the triple sealed TR bearings jpswift has promoted from buffalo bearing. How watertight are the fafnir originals and how have the TR triple sealed from buffalo bearing been holding up for those that have them?? I dont go in the water all that much, but it would be nice to seal it up.

    Thanks!!

I use triple sealed bearings in everything when I replace them.

I have a new set of the triple sealed bearings from Buffalo Bearing...I have taken them out on 4 tough outings with lots of swimming. The seem to be watertight so far. Durability is unknown since they are pretty new....price was right at about 17 bucks each.
      Hammers should have warning labels.

Thanks guys.....jerry, did you get your triple sealed bearings from buffalo bearing?

Also, to the moderator who moved the thread to the attex forum......I put it in the general forum to get feedback from owners of all 6x6's.....they all use similar sealed bearings on the outside. Can I move it back??

        Thanks!!
