My handle is Cyclone. New member with a KB 8x8 argo. This is one of the most intersesting sites I have seen. Much more interesting of course now that I have bought my Argo. I bought it off ebay in Australia for what I thought was a bargain compared to a new one which would set me back around $25K Australian dollars.

After removing all the grease from the axles I now discover sprockets welded to the axle. Ouch. Now my wife will give me a hard time as I pour more money into this old girl that I had planned for. Anyway looks like I am in for one hell of a journey with many cold lonely nights bent over my argo. wish me luck.

hello, everyone. I live in the central part of Missouri. U.S.A. I have had motor cycles, jeeps. but never a amphious atv. My wife's father had a terror tiger, and she is the one that got me thinking about getting one. I am currently thinking about a argo 8x8 frontier. I live on a small farm and would like to have one that can handle some work pulling a utilty wagon.ect. but would also like the ablity to go in water. l have a small pond and live be several small streams. I love to go fishing and hunting bull frogs. The argo seem to fit the ticket. but I would appricate any comments or recommendations as to what amphious atv would be a good buy. As of right now I am only aware of two brands in my area. arge and the max. thanks alan

Welcome to the site!
The other one still in production is the muddox. All three have there good points. Muddox is probably top of line. Max are great fun machines that can handle some utility work. Argo is build solid. Muddox is a great machine but top of line and top of line price tag. Going buy what you want I would say argo or muddox. Just a breaf over view of the top 3. Rest of machines are older/out of production machines and require more searching and custom making for parts and such. Sounds like you are correct with the argo.

Hi Alan, welcome to the site. The 8x8 Frontier would be a good workhorse. Are you looking at buying new? If so you may want to check out the new Argo Avenger HDI with the admiral transmission. You can search the site here in the Argo forum for more information on it. You are correct, Argo and Max are the two major AATVs still made today with a few other smaller companies manufacturing six and eight wheelers as well such as Mudd-Ox, Hydrotraxx, and Hydratrek just to name a few. Go try one out if you can and see if it meets your needs. Good luck.

Hi All

Just joined the site. I just bought a vintage PUG (late 70's early 80,s , my kids say antique) . I have driven many different utvs over the years but this one is by far the best. The PUG is perfect for my applaction. The only problem is I can not find any info on the axels.They were made by HAXCO , holtan axel & transmission company. I hope to find out more info on this awsome machine.It would kill me if I had to sell it because of that. Hope to hear from anybody that has one.

Hi EJ pug, welcome to the site. You may want to start a new thread in the "Other AATV" section of the site asking about the Pug axles so that everyone can see it better. Not everyone checks this thread. Also, if you have any pictures of the axles upload them to the gallery so everyone can see them. That may help spark a member's memory to where they could help you out. Good luck with your search.

my name is eric, i own a 2000 max II 16 horse, and a 1980 something max II with a polaris 440. i bought the 440 max about two years ago on my way to work, fell in love the first sec i laid eyes on it. Just bought the max II from midwest atv (maxatv.com look under used amp) ps still waiting for it to be shipped. I also bought a 60 inch snow blade, i live about 30 min outside pittsburgh pa we had one of the most powerful winters in twenty years can anyone tell me how much snow these plows can handle. Hello Everyone,
Late last summer I picked up myself a 92 6x6 argo. Not in the greatest condition. It runs, drives and is a heck of a lot of fun. I have 4 daughters and we have a great time with it. I originally bought it for the floating ability. We have a piece of land that you need to cross a boat channel. It is only 3 1/2 feet deep but it's nice to stay dry. The girls on the other hand have other ideas. Drive, scream and laugh. What a hoot. We live in southern ontario, so it makes great sense to buy something you can go anywhere anytime.

Eric and Icebjerg, welcome to the site! Eric, sounds like you will soon have the best of both worlds. A max to go fast in and one to work and trail ride with. I'm not sure how much the snow plow can handle but you may want to search the site and if you don't find any previous threads on that topic just start a new thread in the Max forum. It will get a better response than this thread will.

Icebjerg, it sounds like you have the perfect application for your 8x8. I need to find me some land that I have to cross water to access. Maybe that would help me explain to my wife why I need another 6x6.
