ATV`s are a mixture between tractor and car over here. So i could ride it with a normal drivers license, but everybody in it has to wear a helmet. I try to contact the Max dealer over here, may be he has one,which is street legal. Besides, the Max is a lot cheaper ;-D

Hello everyone ! I just picked up a 6x6 not sure what brand it is but I believe it to be a ATTEX an early one from the 70's . I Look forward to posting some questions on this forum. From what I have read this is the right forum to be on for 6x6's.

I've been lurking around here for a few days now gaining info from old posts from this who know. I figured it was time to introduce myself and take away that feeling of being a "peeping Tom" sneaking around in the dark!
My names Chris, 41 years old , live in Alaska and work on the Arctic Slope Oilfield. Started at age 4 on a mini bike and have had many 2 and 4 stroke dirtbikes,2 and 4 stroke 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers and snowmachines over the years.
I still have dirtbikes that get the occasional ride but summer fun usually resorts to the camper heading out with the trailer in tow and a couple Honda 4 wheelers on top with the wife.
AATV experience for me? Hmmmmmmm. That would be a summer back in the early 90's when Dad bought an old Swamp Fox at a garage sale that we thought was gonna be the ticket to get us to the hunting grounds in the fall. We spent a. It of time on that "buggy" with wrenches and tlc and never where happy with the results. It went bye bye soon after seasons end.
Fast forward to the now and we do alot of getting out in the woods now days as I have 2 weeks off from work every month. Several just for fun trips going back 50+ miles in with gear for 4-6 days just to fish and relax several times a summer and not to mention the annual moose trip every year that I make with the hunting partners that take us way back in. This year the 7 1/2 hour trip in turned into 10 1/2 hours on the way out with the rain that fell while back in. Not too mention the last leg in to get over the top of the mountain to our hunting area. It was a repeat year where we gave up trying to get our meat trailers up after a real close call involving me this time and settling for camp quite a distance from our desired spot. I would love to include the wife on this trip,would I let her ride her machine into this area?...... Hell No!
A fellow worker last spring was talking my ear off about Argo's and how he was gonna get one after selling off his current toys. I love all things motor and am always dinking around on the Internet and told him he would be foolish not to check out this Mudd Ox I have read about who also as it seems have started a dealership in Anchorage.
He got off the plane in Anchorage from work after me being home for a week and called me up asking me to check these machines out in person with him as he's not very mechanically inclined. Against my better judgement I went and was very WOWED on the test ride over the big mounds of dirt in the lot next door to them.
I came home with all kinds of broucheres of that "tracked diesel moose getter" and spread em all over the kitchen table for the wife to see when she got home from work. I knew when she did see em cause that's when her eyes started rollin' and I dropped th subject.
Months later I'm STILL obsessed and starting a major house addition and renovation my wife has been waiting years for. Being the salesman at heart I am I have worked a new Mudd Ox into the deal somehow,I'm good but not usually THAT good!?!
I'll hold off awhile before making it happen as winter coming,chores are starting and who knows what the next model year will bring. Thanks for listening to a ramble on my end, now I won't feel "dirty" as I lurk for information :-)

Chris, that was a heck of an introduction! You definitely did good by working the Mudd Ox into your renovation. Sounds like you have a great place to really use an AATV. Let us know when you get one. In the mean time, you can feed your obsession with the pictures, videos, and AATV talk that goes on around here.

Hello folks...........my name is Ron and I reside in the beautiful province of Manitoba up here in Canada. I'm a father of five and grandfather to three. My interests are, traditional bowhunting, old Mopars, old 1st gen 12V Diesel trucks, as well as hunting with naything that fires a projectile.

What brought me to the site is my most recent hunting experience. I was forunate enough to harvest a bull moose with my longbow and what should have taken a couple hours ended up taking us 16 hours to pack out. If I would had access to an AATV, it would have been less than 2 hours!!! So the hunt is on for an AATV. I was looking at the costs of new Argos and that will not be the route I go, so looking for "something" used.

I missed out on a Cat-O-Gator that was reasonably priced now I have to decide bewteen six wheels or eight wheels, tracks or no tracks?

I've also been looking at Hoots......the only drawback I see is they are a one person machine. I'll be lurking and asking questions as I continue my search.

Hi Ron, welcome to the site. :wave: It sounds like an eight wheeler would suit you best so that you could haul a heavier load, some gear, and even a grandchild or three. Get something that is as new as you can and more importantly well maintained. There is a used ATV Buyers Guide in the how-to section of the site with some good tips and things to look for. Good luck in your search and perhaps the next time you get a bull moose you will have a short ride out with it.

Hi, Im Mike. I live in Winter Haven, Florida. My friend and I are fixing up a attex st/295. Not exactly sure what year. plan on posting pics soon so we can figure it out. It has a rebuilt motor but hasn't ran in about 3 years. It should be a fun job.

My name is Charles and I came here looking for a link to an Argo for sale. I just returned from a month long trip to Alaska moose hunting. I saw more amphibious atvs than you could shake a stick at. It does not take long getting stuck in a mud bog in the Wrangell mountains in a 4x4 quad to come to the conclusion that there is a better way to travel in that country. Hence here I am on my search. In the short time I have been here I have read a lot from people here who seem to really know these machines. I hope I do not ask too many dumb questions.

BTW, I am retired and formerly a civil engineer. I build custom gun stocks to help me with my other expensive hobbies and this looks like this one will qualify.
