  • Hi Josh, welcome to the site. The 4 stroke will reduce your speed compared to your two stroke but it will increase your trail riding enjoyment. Let us know how you like your Max IV when you get it.

    • Welcome Josh,

The t-20 is a fantastic and simple transmission. I think you will be pleased with it's durability as well as performance.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

      • Boogieman here semi retired, well retired from the Army, new york state service and still work every day construction. I saw an argo at a sportsman show and got interested in 6 and 8 wheelers. I do a lot of goose and duck hunting and these type of machines seem better than a 4 wheeler. I am here to learn as much as I can so I can made a wise purchase. I also belong to a hunting club around long lake ,N.Y. and have 2000 acres of leased property to hunt on with many wet areas. So help me out guys.

        • Hello all, I've enjoyed reading info on 6 & 8 wheelers here, I use to own a Terra Tiger about 20 years ago but it was in bad shape and I really didn't have a good place to ride it. I now have 50 acres in the mountains and when I get my tractor sold I'll be looking for a good used 6x6 like a Max IV, or an Argo.
This is a great website and looking forward to learning more about 6x6's.

                • Hi ruffstuff, welcome to the site. There are a lot of us fairly close to you that ride a few times a year. You should join us for a trail ride with your Max IV. The next ride is in April at Busco Beach in Goldsboro, NC. Check out the trail ride part of the forum for more info.

As for the year of your Max IV, you can tell the exact year from the serial number. Take it and call Recreatives Industries in Buffalo, NY. Or, you can search the Max forum here on the site. Serial numbers have been discussed before and some years have been posted. Find one that is close to your serial number and you will be in the ballpark. The max serial numbers are sequential.

                  • Introduction

                    HI All,
My name is Chuck and I live in the San Dieo area of Southern California. Our off road toys tend to lean more towards dryer climes than those I'm shure most of you frequent. I have seen a few six wheelers at Glamis and Buttercup cutting up the sand and they are unstopable. They do seem to miss the water to fill out their amphibious genre. The reason I joined is to, hopefully, identify a gearbox I bought on eBay a few years ago. I plan to use it in a desert cart, but want to establish it's pedigree before I embed it into a design. I'll post some pics and a description in the appropriate thread.
                    Thanks,

                      • I have a couple of amphibious atv's one is an argo 6 wheeler and another is what they call a bush swamper. The bush swamper needs some gear box work. I think they are all stripped in side. I am currently looking for someone who sells seals and spockets or gears. Anyone know of a good one in Canada?

                        • There seems to be quite a few Bush Swampers popping up lately. There is actually a 6x6World member by the name of Morgoth that built them when they were being produced. There was also the Trans-Tec Grizzly, which was basically the same machine. Here are a few threads you might want to check out.

                          And here's a sales brochure:

"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"
