hi my name is Kevin and i am from London Ont Canada just recently purchased a argo 6x6 and i am really looking forward to learning more about these great machines .I have been a visitor on this site before and was very impressed with everything i seen ,so now i am a member.you all seem to be a great group of people and i am excited to meet some new friends
Good day! My name is Kent and I am from Ontario. Picked up an '89 Argo yesterday. Despite a few (okay quite a few) mechanical issues, it sure puts a smile on my face. Can't wait to get everything sorted out and appreciate what a great vehicle this is.
Hello all.
I had a Seira trail boss when I was 16 with a single cylinder JLO 2-stroke engine that kept leaning out on me. When I got the engine running good, it started snapping chains and I couldnt aford to replace them. Its one of the only things I have sold in my life that I regret. Took me another 26 years to find another machine that I felt comfortable buying. I just bought this unit, it reached out and said it was the one. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/autom...s-vehicle.html
It has the 29 hp fuel injected Kawasaki engine and tracks. The machine only has 17 hours on it and was told there isnt a scratch on it. I spent about double what I always said I was willing to, but I got a brand new machine for half of the price. I live about 20 minutes from the max factory in buffalo also. So soon I will be looking for others in the area to ride with.

Hi everyone i,ve been checking out the site for awhile as a guest so i thought i would finally register.I started bowhunting last year so now i need a vehicle that can get into remote and swampy areas.I plan on buying an Argo soon it,s handy for me because i live only 20 minutes from where they are built in Newhamburg Ontario Canada. So i,ll have lots of questions lol this is a great site i,m glad I found it.
Well hello all glad to join you have tinkered with engines and bikes over 30 years or so used to be a lot better but 14 strokes and 9 heart attacks later well I am just not as quick or quick minded as I used to be. However I live by a rule never give up lol unless there is no other way. Any hoot I just bought a ATTEX Super Chief with the original 448cc engine the past owner just put new rings and pistons for $1000.00 it was getting spark to the coils and plugs but refusing to even act like it would start so the guy gave up on it and sold it to me. I am taking his word that there are no other problems so I don't know yet if I got a deal or not until I know it actually runs and what the value of these are. I am thinking its between a 1970 and 1972 model by the years on the tail lights being 1972. Any way a couple days of trying to start it was getting good fire to plugs but not trying to start. Then only spark sometimes and now no spark at all and when it was getting spark to the plugs it was not getting spark to the points. I pulled it all apart no shorts or broken wires it has power until you get to the points and no spark now on the plugs. It appears that the Stator is no good key on and the power in the lines good until it reaches the stator and points then there is nothing on the points the stator wires are hardened from heat but not burnt or touching. Just wonder its been so long that i worked on any of these engines should I replace the stator, and maybe the coils as well and perhaps even the voltage regulator, Don't have alot of money I live in a mountain Area have PAD so my walking is vary limited and with a 10 year old who wants to get out go fishing and camping and stuff I figured this would be a great way to get around due to my walking is vary limited to a few 100 ft tops and I am bedridden for weeks to months depending on the body and how it reacts with a degenerating spins as well. any hoot and answers and Ideas are greatly welcome and advice. Thanks all Wisewon.
Congratulations on getting hold of a Superchief- it's a great machine, and the fasted production amphib ever made. I'm not sure it's going to be exactly what you want for your use, but even if it isn't, you could probably trade it off for a slower less tempermental machine once it's running. The iginition works off a mag that doesn't require battery voltage to fire. You may want to check the point gap and timing before you condemn the stator- they're pretty dependable. If it turns out that you need the parts, I've got a few sets.
Good luck on the project

Awiseone and Mopar300, welcome to the site. Mopar300, good luck in your search for an Argo. At least you don't have to go far if you ever need any parts.
