Hello 6x6 world! I stumbled upon this site while researching a potential project... I purchased an old motorcycle from a local and while picking it up he asked me if I would be interested in a 6wheeler. I immediately said no way. He offered it for $100.00. My position did not change. During the trip home with the bike my mind started working on me... The research began and now I am pondering the idea. Even though I have very limited room to store it I am thinking I cannot go wrong for a C-note. I am now hoping you guys can talk me into it, or out of it ( I did not like my wife's opinion). From my initial research I have determined it is just a "Max" model. The color is red (somewhat faded), it has 2 round headlights. I never saw the engine but the fellow told me it had a 20hp single cylinder 2 stroke engine. The guy said it last ran 5 years ago (I am guessing 10 yrs ago). Can this thing be rolled if it is not running? Any info would be appreciated... Thanks, Jeff 6x6.jpg

Jeff,
This is a 1970's Max II. The transmission is worth at least 3 times the $100 price tag, if it works properly. I, and many other folks on the site are going to tell you go get it ASAP! And yes, it will roll as long as the chains aren't rusted/seized.

JP thanks for the quick response! Yeah I am guessing I should pull the trigger... I know the guy is not advertising it. I may see if he will deliver it for $200.00. Getting it from point A to point B is my biggest obstacle right now. You stated this is a Max II? There is an emblem on the dash that reads "Max". I will contact he guy and pick his brain a bit to get a better diagnosis of why she sits parked.
Hi there! Kevin from Morgan Hill, CA. I have had a 1968 Coot for years, but am new to the 6 wheel club. Just received 2 Sierra Trail Bosses. Totally dissembled, but most of the parts seem to be there...
Hi David Phelps,Clifton Ill.Have had 3 aatv previously but sold them 10 years ago and regretted it!But I just purchased another attex to what I believe is a 295 wild wolf but not sure!Runs good but needs a few little things! Appreciate the help I've gotten already. Thanks
I looked at your pictures, and I believe your machine was pieced together somewhat. It's not a wild wolf, but may be a wild wolf frame, motor, and t-20. The tires are Argo, but that body, that beautiful body is that of a third gen Attex. It's probably a Superchief body, but could have been a tomahawk or a spirit as well. The frames on the Superchief and Wild wolf are pretty much identical, but look at the serial number on the frame rail above the right rear tire. If it's a 76 or newer, it's a true Superchief with an engine swap. It probably won't be a 76 though due to those being orange.
Hi there I'm Hamish from Inverness in Scotland I've spent most of my time doing trailing in old land rovers and home made buggies and into dirt biking too but have acquired an old beat up conquest 8x8 and hunting for tips etc from more experience d users of the argo machines (all new stuff to me ) so hope I can pick your brains as I get to grips with fixing up my new toy and hope to get it up and running soon well for summer at least with your help of coarse
Hi there, Josh in Joplin, Missouri. Just picked up a Max IV, I think it is around a 1999 sn# 15324. Does have spline Axles and 18 hp Vanguard Briggs. Spent all day yesterday tearing it down. I have a 9 year and 12 year old that are super stoked about getting this to run. It was running and driving but noticed a lot of strange things like transmission was moving when you moved the stick. Turns out it had two transmission studs broken on passenger side and all the sprockets had a lot of play. Anyway I am sure I will have lots of questions. I told my boys we had to go through it first and make sure we did not take it out and break down in 50 ft. Mainly plan on using it for duck hunting, just want some reliability. Thanks for having such a great site, and great forum!
Hi Josh, welcome to the forum. Good luck getting your Max IV in good working order. I'm sure you and your kids will have a blast in it once you get the bugs worked out.
Hi I'm astro41. Don't know if I'm doing this right, never got into a forum before. I'm in Manitoba, Canada, currently repowering an Argo (80s) 6x6. May have a lot of questions.
First off, I would like to say greetings to everyone here on 6x6 World, and to the administrator Greetings and Thank you for welcoming me onto this club web site.
Now as for who I am,let me introduce myself, My name is Jerry and I reside in the Grand rapids Mi area for the last 4 years. I am the father of 5 wonderful adult children and a grandfather of 11 going on twelve beautiful Grandchildren I own a 1997 MaxIV that I have had now for about two years. I received this machine in a barter trade for my used Suzuki quad runner. I also own a 1998 arctic cat pantera snowmobile and a 2003 18 foot horizon deck boat. As you can see my club name is Disabledsportsman, I use that name because I am a paraplegic and have been since 2007 when I was stuck down by a medical condition that caused me to become paralyzed from the waist down. I have always loved the outdoor(Hunting & fishing both summer and winter) and I found it to be a lot easier for me to enjoy the outdoor from my MaxIV then from any other ATV or UTV on the market today. That is some of who I am,and again I would like to thank you all for the invite to your club and I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future.
Jerry the Disabledsportsman
Hi astro41, welcome to the site. Any questions you have can be posted in the Argo or engine sections. Good luck.
Hi Jerry, There are several of us close to you, and I'm anxious for the snow to go away and to get a group ride together. I look forward to meeting you and riding.
Where do you typically ride?
