Hi Everyone. Im Brian C. I just joined the forum today. (whoop-whoop). Anyway i live in Kitty Hawk NC. We live here on the outer banks of NC or OBX. I am a general contractor that has been doing wood work all my life. 40 years old. I had never even heard of a argo until hunting last year. A man drove his argo to a bear we had got in a area that we crawled in on. I was freakin amazed. Well last week i saw one on craigslist for sale , so i called dude up and met to look at this thing. I didnt even drive it around. i just told the guy to drive it up on my trailer and i hurried back home with it. It was like christmas back when i was 7. Happy,happy, happy. I drove it around a couple of days and even ran in the pond. Now i have a few questions and need some parts and accessories. I looked up argo online and saw this site and thought this is the 1 for me. So, here i am. A proud owner of a argo. I sent a pic to dealer here in nc and he told me it looked like a 87 argo. The tag on dash says S6138 from ontario gear co.Thanks for letting me join the club. Im not a mechanic for sure but woodwork ive mastered. So if anyone has questions about wood work, then ask me. Hello everyone! Does anyone know how to repair a hole in an Argo 8x8 (the hole is in the tub portion). I need your help. Thanks so much. Shadowbax

Hi Shadowbax, welcome to the forum. If the hole is really small like a pinhole, you can use a small propane torch to heat up the body and melt it back together. If it is a little bit larger hole, you will need a spare piece of HDPE. Put some tape on the back of the hole and melt some hdpe into the hole. It works well if you let the hot HDPE drip into the hole. The tape will prevent it from just going through the hole itself. If the hole is a large hole/opening, then you will need to take a spare piece of HDPE, cut it so that it fits in the hole and plastic weld it back to the tub with a plastic welder. If that's the case, search the site for plastic welding. There are several threads on the topic.

Chetech Pug Newbie

Hello from central Illinois. My toys don't float (at least they weren't designed to), so I hope all of you will put up with me pushing the limits of this forum a bit. I have a Roof Palomino, a Jeep-inspired lawn mower, and just brought home a Pug 4x4 made by Chetech. It has a Kohler two cylinder engine and a four speed transmission out of a Ford Escort. Previous owner owns a company that rebuilds earthmoving equipment, so it has a Caterpillar inspired yellow (body) and black (cab and wheels) paint job. My experience with this particular Pug is about 5 minutes worth of test driving and loading on the trailer, so I've got quite a bit of evaluating to do. It has some known faults (noisy hydraulic pump, one leaking steering cylinder, tailgate isn't quite right, needs different front tires, etc.) but nothing that a little weekend/evening wrenching and the credit card won't fix. The things I need the most are the owner's manual and parts book. If anyone has one (or a copy), please let me know. Thanks!

New here. just introducing myself. i found the forum to start after coming across an old Amphicat for sale local and cheap. i remember these from when i was a kid and havent thought a lot about 6x6 aatv's in a long while. ive been rebuilding and restoring motorcycles and snowmobiles for 30 years as a hobby when im not designing machines for my work in optics manufacturing.
dont have a lot of spare $$ so im looking to see what a good used AATV would be. would love to find a Hustler near me at a reasonable cost or go for a newer Argo. saw the chinese 8x8 too but not sure about them.
well as i get into a 6x6 ill post here and have some questions

Thanks for the welcome.. im in Vermont. ive found a cool old amphicat for 900$ and an old 85 argo 6x6 for about the same $ and a range of older max 2 and 4's .. how would the older amphicat stand up to say the 85 argo for a good starter toy ?? thoughts
