        • Hello I'm new here but wanted to say Hello anyways. I'm trying to get funding to start a service called: Emergency Search & Rescue Service Limited using the MUDD-OX Brand ATV's. Not had much luck yet though. Here's the site I'm on.

          • A better option might be to steer local public safety departments to look into purchasing machines like the Mudd-Ox. They already provide search and rescue functions.

              • I'm dwdog51. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a 2007 Max IV from a dealer in Logan Utah. I live in Fremont Utah and am surrounded with mountains and lakes. I'm retired and enjoying retirement living in this area. The Max IV came with tracks and a Kawasaki 27 HP engine. Lots of snow here and I've been trying it out in the deep mountain snow and so far It has went well! I went thru the Ice on a little lake near me but powered thru it and came out on solid ice (very scary!) So far I'm very pleased with the Max IV but wish it had a little more power. I do welding and Fabrication here in my shop and built a roll cage and installed a 2500# winch using 1/8" x 2" angle all the way around the machine to connect the roll cage and winch. Anything I need to watch out for or keep tabs on , please let me know.
                Thanks so much.

                • Hi dwdog51, welcome to the forum and congratulations on picking up your Max IV. My first thought is that I'm surprised you feel your Max needs more power. That 27HP motor is a beast and even an 18HP motor will power a Max IV. I would first make sure that when you feel it needs more power, you are actually pressing hard forward on the sticks. Often, the springs on the laterals will keep the transmission engaged just enough to move you forward under normal circumstances but when it starts to bog down, it can still let the transmission slip a little. By pressing forward, you ensure that the transmission is fully engaged. Give it a shot the next time you're out and see if that helps. If not, start a new thread in the Max forum and let's talk through some other possibilities such as a worn or slipping belt.

                  • Thanks for the welcome! I had a problem with the throttle cable, it wasn't getting full throttle. I adjusted it and it did improve it a little. The guy I purchased it from told me not to hit a hill full throttle but pull it at a lower speed due to the CVT clutch may be in the highest speed and it needs to be near the lowest speed to pull a hill better. Does this sound right? Anyway, it does a good job although today I couldn't make it to the top of a steep hill very easy. The snow was wet and melting and I had another guy in it with me (more weight). I had to back down the hill and keep hitting it until I finally inched my way over the hill with the tracks spinning. Thought I'd have to winch up the hill. I'm learning every day. Anyway thanks for the welcome.

                    • I am a full-throttle kind of driver so I typically hit hills at full throttle. If you have tracks and they are spinning on the ice/snow, that makes sense to slow down so it can grab traction. I think you are probably fine and will just learn the machine as you go and be able to figure out where to hit things at full throttle and where to creep through. Have fun.

                      • Hi everybody hope your all doing well in the world. Thank you all for the add. First of all my name is Mike im from and live in bloomington indiana and have rode dirt bikes, atvs, and love just about anything with an engine guess you could say im a gearhead. Also love too go boating, fishing and hunting. I traded a crossbow for an amphibious a couple of years back and knew it needed restored but didn't have a garage too play with it in until the last couple of months. The most i can figure out about it so far is its a Sperry rand wedge 295 and was built late 60's early 70's. T would love too maybe find a few original parts in good shape for this thing if anybody might know a place. It is completely tore down right now looking like a big bath tub on saw horses. Recently got all my new bearings here recently and got all the axles and plates cleaned up on it. Somebody has taken out the original engine and built all the brackets and put an old 462 skidoo snowmobile on it so without having too say much once its done its going to be repainted and name frankenstein's monster seems only fitting for the circumstances.

                          • Hey new to the site and just traded a polaris magnum for my 2nd 6x6. I got a 2002 maxii with the 16hp vanguard. My first one was a sierra trail boss that the engine went out in just about a month after getting it. I had wanted another one ever since the trail boss was gone.

                              • Hello to all!, Name is Rick and I have had several 6x6's Max2 and Max 4 and even a Wedge,,,sold them all for one reason or another. I now own enough lakefront property with a large pasture and I think I would have more use/fun with a 6x6 than a Bass boat. Looking forward to catching up on info and am looking to purchase a "Project Unit" in the South east. Willing to travel for a good deal.
