  • Hello, just got my hands on a 1970 playcat 400. My first aatv. It runs great but need some tlc. So i have completely stripped it down to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Remove rust, replace/repack bearings, and repaint it.

    • Hello and welcome to the site. There's some information on here about your new cool new toy. If you can post s picture, we like pictures. A couple years ago there was one for sale on the side of the road in great condition with a cab. Wish I would have looked into it more.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

          • Hello everyone. I'm Paul. From southern NJ. I am glad to be apart of this community and to be able to ride the trails and tread the mud and snow this winter on a 6x6. Its all about being outside. Just purchased a Attex 6x6. Gotta do a ll repair work to the reverse. Then she should be good. Previous owner neglected her. But she still runs good. Will probably do a engine swap in the very near future. Hopefully installing a original motor if I can find one. LOL.

                  • Hello all,

Thanks to all who have shared so much knowledge and advice on this forum. I recently picked up a mid 90's max IV that got me through hunting season but is now in the garage getting fixed/improved. I was impressed with the max on 26 inch tires, and have a set of old plastic 13 inch argo tracks with 21 inch tires. I'd like to see how it goes with the tracks before I decide if I want to keep it long term. Lots of deep, nasty mudholes up here in AK, plus a long winter where tracks may come in handy. I'll be posting some more in the max forum, hope to see you all there!

                      • Hello every body.

I am from Finland. My English is not very good, specially when writing stuff.
Anyway I have been reading this forum quite a while, becauce i have 80.s Argo 8x8 tb.
And in the past summer we bought 2007 avenger efi. Now working on it to make good as new.

This good forum, very good and usefull information here. Have helped me much.
Here in Finland there are not very many Argos or other aatv, so its very hard to find information here.

                        • Welcome Mikko, your English was just fine and maybe better than some over here. Good luck with the new efi as it should be a pleasure to run compared to the tb, while both are very capable the efi should make light work of what was involving in the tb.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.

                          • We are a family of off road junkies. I just dug out one of my childhood favorites, an amphicat. We are rebuilding it and welcome any advice or suggestions.
We also have a Suzuki 70cc that we are trying to put life back into. I want my boys to experience the same thrills that I did as a child.

                            • Hello all, I have been lurking in the background of this site since purchasing my 97 Argo Vanguard II about a year ago. I am currently in the process of an engine swap and repair.
Thanks to everyone for the great advice and tips for those of us that are still learning our machines. I live in Eastern North Carolina, and while it doesn't snow here much, we have year round mud. I look forward to meeting some of you who travel to Busco Beach as that is one of the places I plan to take the Vanguard when it's ready
