New guy from Wisconsin
Hello everyone,
I just bought a 1974 Max II that actually runs. It has had two owners and the the person I bought it from has only had it for the last 6 years. He had the original receipt for the machine form the first owner from 1974. It came with a new engine with less than 10 hours on it and 6 newer tires and rims. Now I have to figure how to drive the darn thing.

Welcome to the site claudester. You will have a blast with your machine. Set the gear shift to forward, give it throttle and push the sticks forward to move the machine forward. Pull back on the sticks to stop/turn. Set gear shift to reverse, give it throttle, and pull back on the sticks to go backwards. Push the sticks forward to stop/turn. You'll get the hang of it.
Also, welcome to tuxedoman, gearman, scout357 and markzachery (and whoever else I missed). Lots of good info and helpful folks on this site.

Hello everyone!
My name is Randy and I have been a member for a bit now and don't recall introducing myself to you all. Been an Argo nut ball for a long time. Love working on them and their design. Recently came across a deal on a 97 Argo Bigfoot that was toooooo good to pass on so I snatched it up. Been doing a lot reading on this site and the information is overwhelming. Driving on again is just miles of smiles. Here in northern Alberta there is every type of terrain you can want. My favorite is bog of course.
Cheers to you all!Last edited by BF6X6; 09-01-2020, 08:05 PM.

Hi, another newly to the site. Just purchased a 2009 MaxIV with all the accessories that has been put away indoors for last 8 years. Like new to eyes, and included the top and windshield, and optional 26 inch tires. Showing my age, but used to drive an Attex in the 1960s. Wanted to rekindle the feeling of being nearly unstoppable. In my part of the country (southeast Idaho) amphibious ATVs are a rarity, as are those who know how to work on them.
While my machine is in great shape, I had trouble getting it to steer. Not used to the springs on the levers, which I think are too tensioned, but I had to pull with all my might to steer it in a 180, and took two tries to park in the garage, as I could not hardly steer it. Could any of this be from it sitting so long? The seller took it to a snowmobile dealer and they changed all the fluids and lubed all bearings and chains before I purchased it. Any ideas?

Hello Alan here from Iowa. New to the Argo's we just ordered a 2021 Frontier 8x8. My wife and I are looking forward to running it more her than me. Three more weeks to wait for it unless Hunter with Argo pulls some strings and my dealer gets it sooner. One question I have how these machines do in sandy creek bottoms?

Im in Oklahoma and I just bought river bottom land where roughly 60 acres is routinely flooded. Can anyone guide me to the best threads/posts to get started. Thanks, Cory

Hi everyone, I've owned a attex chief since 1973. It has always started and drove, but it was time for a make over. Rebuilt transmission and done alot of cleaning up. Just hoping I can get some advice on the cracks in the tub and other things. Over the years I fiberglassed some cracks but want to remove all that and do it right if there is a right. And also I hope I can help some of you with things. Thanks in advance, Perry
