Welcome to the site!!
What machine are you trying to break! lol
Hello my name is reggie, i have been riding motorcycles and atv from the time i could walk. My 2 uncles have attex's. I got a 1969 scrambler 7 years ago, for free that sat for 12 years in the woods on its side. Tore the whole thing apart down to the body. Rebuilt the trans. Axels, all bearings and seals, installed a briggs 16 hp vanguard v-twinn, due to it not having reverse, i added a polaris gear case, that gave me f-n-r. Im still working on the scrambler. Hope to have it all done by summer. Also i have been a motorcycle and atv technician for 14 years, currently im at a polaris dealership. I am in need of a scrambler front seat and floor, if anyone can help. Looking forward to talking to you all. Thanks reggie
Sounds awesome, cant wait for pictures!!! I love those scramblers. A scrambler with reverse is ultimate!!!
Welcome to all the other new members also. Glad to have you guys here to share ideas, thoughts, tech and fun!!!

Hi all, my name is justin i bought a 6 wheeler from a friend about 4 years ago it ran when he parked it but he let it sit up ...
other than it being a 4 seater green hustler i know NOTHING about it .. i belong to a 4 wheeler riding group and we love to ride in the mud and water but im lookin for a lil more... been thinkin of fixing up my hustler but dont know where to begin!!! it looks like the pics of the hustler 900 but i have no idea... any help would be appreciated
Hi Justin, welcome to the site. If you can post a picture of your Hustler in the gallery and then start a new thread in the Hustler forums someone would be able to identify it fairly quickly for you and then help you problem by problem on how to get it running. Just post as much information there as you can. For example, will the motor turn over, will it start, will it rev up, will it move at all, etc. Again, welcome to the site!
Welcome Justin,
Those hustlers are awesome machines! Good luck getting it going. I would follow Mikes advise on getting some pictures posted to help ID the model and try to get a shot of the engine and such. Then ask any questions you may have on getting it moving again. We are a great bunch and we will help you getting it going.

Does it have a fiberglass or plastic body? What motor is in it? This will help us determine the year. Either way, Hustlers are great machines and very capabable mud machines when properly set up.

Hi guys,
Everyone calls me Charlie I'm in the British Army I have my tracked license and usual drive a WARRIOR APC at 26 tonnes but size isn't everything, lol.I have been on on here before about a year ago reading forums reading and researching never register though. I've always been tempted to buy a 6x6 or 8x8 but they are always out of my price range. Well that's all changed now what better way to learn than buy a resto, lol. Tonight I won off ebay what I think is a hustler 880 that has been left outside for many years, no engine but the transmission is there. It's in a sorry state and it won't be easy sourcing parts because I'm in the UK. Here are the pictures from ebay
Just got to arrange pick up and I should soon, can't wait to see what I've let myself in for, lol.
I look forward to chatting ,asking for HELP!!!!! and probing your minds Pmsl.
Till then,
Charlie.
1, If it moves and it ain't suppose to use Duck tape.If it don't move and it's suppose to use WD40.
2, If it got tits or wheels it will cost you lots of money and grief.
Hello there Charlie,
Well that is a start and the good thing is you will learn your machine inside and out. That is a fiberglass hustler. Just curious do you know if it has the apex trans or the t-20?
I look forward to watching that machine be re born,
Thanks for the welcome Larry.
Thanks for the heads up on it been fibreglass. I'm register on the http://www.fiberglassforums.com/ great source of info and some amazing projects on there.I'm also in the middle of building Budget kitcar which is a Jago Geep which has fibreglass bodywork(not a spelling mistake, they had to change the name from Jeep copyright reasons, lol. Not sure until I get it I can only assume it's going to have the T20. Well I hope because that what I've been reading up on,lol
It's going to be a painful rebirth! Pmsl.

Also. take a look to see if it has the jet drive out back underneath the body as well. It will most likely had a Kohler single cylinder 309cc, CCW 340cc twin cylinder, or possibly a Kohler 440cc twin cylinder. All of which can still be found. Many people decide to change these 2 stroke engines out for a four stroke, which would make this an excellent machine for the trails, and it would be super reliable. A good choice for the swap would be either a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard V-twin or a Kohler Command V-twin. Anyways, it is a nice machine that looks like it has potential.
Larry is right, it could have an Apex transmission with a jackshaft and clutchpacks on it, or the T-20. The early Hustler 880 models with the Apex transmissions and jackshaft combination seem to be much rarer than those with the T-20, so I'm going to take a wild guess and say that yours has the T-20.
Here are some articles on the early Hustlers that make for an interesting read. The last link shows the Apex transmissions/ jackshaft combination style drive system.
Welcome to the site Charlie. Glad to have you in our little group. Hustler is a very sharp looking machine and i think you will have a great time rebuilding it. Time and patience will pay off. Look forward to seeing updates. Glad to have you and keep us updated to your progress.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
