Being able to lock down one side of the tracks will help you control that machine in the water. The best way to steer it in the water is to lean from side to side. If you want to do some serious winter driving get the winter track extension kit and that thing will go just about anywhere. If you watch this video you will see Ty's Conquest several times through out the video.

This what the Tracks will do for you in the snow:

Thanks for the info MightyMax! Watching those YouTube videos is addicting. It is fun to see the tracked vehicles doing circles around pretty much everything else!

    • Hi everyone, just joined the forum and just purchased a 2017 argo avenger. I've been reading this site for about a month now, and the wealth of information here is amazing. All of the information you guys provide really helped me decide exactly what to get! We will hopefully be getting it this weekend and I look forward to reading and contributing more!

! the introduction posts can go here so they are in one thread.

Don't be shy, tell us a little about yourself. Do you own an amphibious atv? If so, what kind. Where do you live, etc?

We look forward to meeting you.

            • Wellsville, NY resident. I own a Polaris Ranger which I love, but......I am in a wheel chair and have 70 acres to play on. Logging skidders have left ruts deep enough to bury my Ranger, which stinks when I can't walk. Hoping an Argo with tracks will not leave me in as many bad situations.

              • I'm Dan from Newfane,NY and have passively been looking for a max 2 for a while.I had an early 70s model with a JLO rockwell 2stroke.Quite a blast when I could keep it running. The newer ones with 4 stokes are a no brainer.

Good luck with your search, there are quite a few members and a club based not too far from you.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                  Joe Camel never does that.

                  • Hello everyone, I'm Herbie and I live in south louisiana and have a super swamp fox that I just reacquired.

I originally joined 02/2012 after purchasing a super swamp fox from my cousin. I ended up getting rid of it, but I'm happy to say I'm getting it back and am considering doing a full rebuild. As of now it needs a motor and a new transmission.
Super Swamp Fox currently under construction........

                    • donS6230 here , new member , i have a 2017 frontiere and am in the process of building my own rops for it , i have my own bender and am using 1 1/2 round tube , will be looking for used track and tires that are more gravel road friendly , no need to ruen the paddle tires when hunting , i live in glide oregon and retired usmc viet nam 1964 , i am a back yard machinist and love building and fabrication , as far as i know there are no argo people here and no dealers in oregon , i went to idaho to get mine . I think a set of tracks would be more turf friendly where i ride , the paddle tires really tear things up in a turn so i was thinking a set of all terrain ty tiers would be better so i would like feed back on this , any way i have lots to say about lotsa thing , and hope to be active in the argo community , thanks
                      have good day

                        • Hello I hace a conquest with the orginal plastic tracks on it, in deep snow or very wet snow it has a difficult time climbing up the road to our cabin. It is very steep in places, but I am curious if these newer tracks are better in deep snow. By steep , the road climbs 360 feet in a bit more than 1/4 mile, deep snow 3-5 feet. Any advice would bhe appreceated.

                          • Hi all!. We live right on the Suwannee river near Old Town, FL. The river has been flooded over our road for a month and a half now. We boat a Max Vii to get out of here. But the side current acroos the road from the river caused the Max to float off the road and into the woods. So I installed a electric trolling motor on the back. But it did not help so we put the Max up for sale and sold it in less that 2 days. We had to tow it out of here with our JD 4X4 tractor. Couple days later the tractor slid into a ditch under the water. Water was over 4' deep then. Had to have a huge tractor come and pull the JD out. So then we bought an ex mud racer/swamp buggy. Has huge tractor tires all the way around. Goes through the water a-ok. Like to get another Max sometime for fun. Steve & Darlene

Been to Old Town a few times, Mom lives in Kissimee down from Woodies. These machines do not like currents, so if you had flowing water receding it surely would have took it, gld you are ok.
Hope you find another machine in the future.

                              • I found this forum as I was searching for an Argo forum. My name is Chuck and I live in eastern Iowa. I purchased a 2014 Argo 750HDi off eBay and had to have it picked up by my local dealer who got it running. I currently have it back at the dealer for a transmission issue, but after 30 years of riding ATV's and snowmobiles, I really like a machine that can haul the whole family across the creek and through the woods of my property. I'd just put the tracks on it and was looking forward to some fun in the snow, when the transmission broke. I also like snowmobiles and ATV but the four of us can't go together on them. I think my Argo will be a good machine once I get these issues resolved and I look forward to having a lot of fun with it.
