  • WHAT emergency brake!?!

Now, I've only been building my Hustler for a year -and not driving it- but I feel like I know how it works pretty well. In the painting process I took this off the cockpit area. Umm... I don't know of any sort of parking brake on this thing. What am I missing?!?

Hustlers did come with a parking brake from factory, but they've gone missing from some machines over the years, mine included.

My machine once upon a time had a big disk that bolted to the right hand output sprocket on the T20. A caliper bolted to an upright and was activated by a cable that ran to a lever under the driver's seat. When I acquired the machine the disk was missing and the cable was toast so I don't have the emergency brake. On another hustler the brake disk was mounted on the left had output sprocket. Quite frankly, there are times I wish I did have the brake because the internal T20 brake doesn't work well if you are rolling the wrong direction. I.e., in forward gear but rolling backwards the brakes don't work worth a flip. Same is true if in reverse but roll forward.

I have also seen a disc brake mounted onto the center driver side axle. Problem with them though, is that if the tub gets hung, you can cut a hole in it.
