  • HELP me buy an Argo for ICE FISHING.

    Hello,

I am a new member. I am buying my first Argo for the sole purpose of using it for ice fishing. I am looking at an 8x8 with tracks, an enclosure, heater, and a winch. But, I know nothing about what type of Argo, which tracks, winch, etc... to buy and I would like to tap into the knowledge base here to set up my Argo.

Price is NOT a consideration, but I do like spending my money wisely. In other words, I like to get the best bang for my buck.

Thank you in advance to all who respond, it will be greatly appreciated.

I use mine for ice fishing and it works very well, here is my set up.
2012 HDI with argo rubber tracks, half top, windshield wiper.i never bothered with the cab heater because they seem somewhat useless.i have a warn winch and carry enough stuff to make a stakehold fast.have yet to need it though, that machine is a beast in the slush.

Hi Plott hound. Would it be fair to say that with the windshield and roof on, it is usually necessary to have a window out because it gets too warm with the motor running fairly hard with rubber tracks on?

yes indeedy,i usually leave one flapping in the wind after the machine comes up to temp.unless of course its a nasty cold day with a strong wind.

Thank you for the advice on the heater. Do you wish you had bought a full top? Also, are there any other options that you have for ice fishing, or that you think would be useful?

I was wondering about a skid-plate, a chain oiling system, and other Argo accessories that may or may not apply to just winter use. Thanks again.

mine came with a skid plate,as for an auto oiler I'm a matinence fanatic.so I don't mind physicaly lubing the chains it gives a great chance to inspect everything.as for the top a full top or half top would work for me.i just had a chance to buy a half top for a good price.
