  • half track question

any advantage to having the front axles and tires more forward ( longer space between center axle and front axle ) when running half tracks ? they will still be drive wheels.... maybe there is a disadvantage in that the wheel base will be longer. any thoughts ? thanks, johnboy va.

Factory wheelbase of a poly hustler is like this for the same option, your disadvantage would be your track would no longer be long enough to use existing 6 wheel track.

thanks jim...with the adair shackle tracks it's easy to add a couple of cleats and connectors when i switch back to full tracks with the 22'' tires. just wondered if front tires a little more forward would add anything to performance before i set the axles in place. j.b.

Performance addition I don't know, it may add to the ride quality vs. just tracks at approaches.

thanks jim....i think your right about the approach situation. if front tires are too far forward, then when climbing a rut or steep uneven terrain they may tend to lift some of the front of the track off the ground and traction would be reduced. i'll keep them forward enough for adequate clearance. if the back 2 axles pivoted, then it would be o.k. johnboy
