I've found it better to suck air out.

I would say better to suck the hot air out that way you get a crossflow of cooler air coming in across your motor.

Depends on how much room you have to let air flow back in. It is usually a good idea to have it suck out and pull air in all over the engine as commented above. In my Coot the engine bay under the seat is very crowded and there is nowhere to mount a fan that would draw a suction (such as on an argo the plastic body works). So I have my fan blowing in. Even if the air just gets mixed around it makes a huge difference. These 80 watt fans available in all sizes work excellent: https://www.ebay.com/itm/7-inch-Univ...5XvQFH&vxp=mtr

Are you trying to cool the engine itself or the engine bay in general? If it's for the engine, I would give it unlimited access to fresh air for the intake, the hot air will have no other choice but to leave the engine bay where ever it can. If focusing on cooling the bay, then I would side with Toys4Me.

thanks for the replies...sucking it out the top and draw cooler air in all the side and rear vents seems to be the ticket. i remember some fellas having motor heating problems with the vanguard 23's. it's only a problem when running a few hrs. continuous in the heat of summer. thanks allwheel on the tip for fans to buy ..... johnboy va.

draw the air out. Does wonders on my argo bigfoot. I mounted fans in the exhaust box close to the muffler to draw off from the hottest heat generator.
