Cat-a-gator question from a new guy

Hello! New here, new to a rig like this but it was too cool to pass up! Now my question is, On the hydraulic clutch on the engine, is there supposed to be a return spring? One to open the clutch when you push the button on the stick? I had to free up the cylinder that operates it, there was a cable and pulleys rigged up to it so the cylinder was off it. Thanks!
