Need to know how hard it would be to put a 440 kawi from a Artic Cat into a Attex Chief. It has a 295 JLO in it now. The owner of it isn't to mechanically inclined and has asked me to do it. I have not done one with this motor before.

Not very hard. If the Chief has the original engine mount, it should just be a matter of making new slots to mount the Kawasaki. If it's been changed for a Wildwolf 295 mount you may have to ad a larger plate to the top of the mount. Good Luck.Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

The Kawi 440 is out of the picture now. The motor was shot and after looking at the price to rebuild it wasn't worth it. He will be sticking with his 252 that he thought was a 295. I worked on the 252 and it now runs like a raped ape. But on a lighter note I was given a CCW400 that the person thought was junk. It turns out the motor was rebuilt not to long ago. Bored out, new 40 over pistons, new bearings and seals. Electric start also. Just need to find a couple of parts and it will be good to go. It will most likely end up in the Crocodile build. Also pick up 2 T20 trannys also . Both in really good shape. All for a total cost of $0.00.

Be sure to measure from the center of the belt to whatever is at the right of the engine, for clearance!!! That's my problem with my old Multimobile!!
I have right at 12 inches to make something work and I'm down to a kawasaki/Gator engine, or a 13hp Harbor freight predator - which is a slanted-cylinder Kohler clone!
