I'd like to replace the smashed stale pancake that is my seat foam with something else with more support and shock absorption. Any recommendations for something good? I saw Mikes article for gun case foam but I think I'd like something that doesn't need to be doubled up.

Well I think I'll want something with more "performance" than some cheap bulk foam padding. Not that I'm against cheap but I'm more concerned with comfort and durability.

My upholstery supply has a dense foam, sold as motorcycle, tractor and bus seating. I've bought it in 2 and 3". When it's new, it only sinks about an inch when I sit on it. It's too stiff for a backrest, doesn't give at all. Backs always use a softer foam. Also, those 1/2" thick blue foam camp sleeping pads at walmart etc, can be used underneath the seat foam..To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)

That Confor foam looks interesting. I talked to an upholstery guy and he said I might be able to take a thicker low density foam and compress it to make a higher density foam. I think I have a piece of 4 inch that I'll see if I can jam into the seat cover as an experiment first.

Tried the 4 inch foam compressed, ended up with hard 2 inch foam that had very little give. Knew it couldn't be that easy. Time to spend some money.

Corbeau Suspension Bench Seat
I am considering looking at one of these for the front seats. In an Argo, when you consider where your butt is, this seat should fit in quite nice. May need some bracket modification but could be a winner.
Corbeau: Baja Bench
It sounds like it would soak up the jolts and jarring. It gives slightly less room between the firewall and front of the seat, but I figure on the current seat I sit near the front to let me knees absorb more of the movement. With this you'd sit more back into it.

That looks really nice, but way too large for the Attex, and more than I want to spend. I picked up a camping pad at Walmart for $12 bucks and folded it lengthwise and width wise to make it thicker. It's a little too hard so I think I might take out one fold and try a yoga mat on top of it for a double density seat cushionSometimes I just can't resist experimenting to try and find a cheap solution. If it doesn't work out I've got a nice camping pad and maybe I'll take up yoga
