I was wondering if 2 or 2.5 inch exhaust pipe would be rugged enough to make a roll bar out of? That way I can use prebent 180 degree sections cut in half to make the curves or maybe have the local muffler shop bend it up for me. I made some pretty nice nerf bars for a Jeep that way with 3 inch pipe. 3 inch is too large for this application.

I always though that using larger diameter tubing allows using a thinner wall

        That meets NHRA specs.

Seems like it might be overkill? Of course better safe than sorry.

How many hours of ride time do you get on a full charge?

It depends on what I'm doing, somewhere between 1/2 to 1 hour. I've never taken them to a full discharge since that's not great for batteries, but I do intend on testing the full range at some point.

              Ouch!

Glad to hear you are OK, I never thought you would be able to roll that machine with all of the battery weight in the bottom of it. Good thing you mounted the batteries securely, huh? Here's my two cents on roll bars - After watching Hydromike roll his machine at speed, I think that is the style I will go with. That bar just rolled him right back over onto his wheels, and he kept on going. Awesome! However, that style may require having the lower racer style seating arrangement. And a harness. Maybe Santa will bring you a helmet this year?

Having the batteries low and in the back works well most of the time, but in this case they ended up being the pivot point that the machine rotated around
Yeah Hydromike's bars are cool but I don't want to redesign my seating, and this is not a high speed machine. More likely is a slow to medium speed flop over, and having a flat side to fetch up against might be a good thing. I don't want to add too much weight to this, especially higher up, which is why I'm trying to see how light I can make the bar. Maybe I need a wheelie bar too

Maybe if you made it big enough? 6 inch well casing?
How did you manage that one?

I used 1'1/4 Electical conduit to build my rollbar/cage setup for my Argo BigFoot,,I did purchase the 1"1/4 bender big $$ though,,,the E.C. that size is some tuff to bend,,took 3 of us to hold and pull on the 4' bender handle,,,the conduit is rather lite in weight,,the whole Rollbar weighs just 50 lbs,,,and I have no doubt it will help in a Roll over !

PS. I just recently attached a piece of aluminum roofing I had laying around to the Rollbar,,with zip ties,,Winter is about here,,needed a Quick top one day !
