  • It's Summer Camp time again!

Summer Camp started today at MCCTC in Canfield, Ohio. My students are building another Attex. Here are the latest pics.

When you say "building", I assume that you have done the hard part, finding and purchasing all the pieces for the project, and they are putting it all together. I wonder if the work that you do/did is included in the overview or start for the project. As some on the forum will attest, just getting all the parts can take nearly most the time. I think it is terrific that you and your sponsors can provide this experience to some young, exciting minds. When completed, what do you do with the project? Do you sell or raffle it off to provide funds for the next year camp?

            Very cool
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

            (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

Sorry, maybe I should have said "assembling". This is one of my own machines. I have been teaching Summer Camp for about four years. We are limited on how deep we can get into these (engine and transmission) because camp is only 3 days long. I tear the machine apart; bring it to school in pieces, and the students put it back together. We go over the parts and they learn what everything is, what it does, and where it goes. On the last day they usually get the machine finished in the morning and then get to ride/drive it the rest of the day. The first year I did it I used a different machine. Since then I have used the same one. It works out for me because I essentially refurbish a machine every year. Anything that needs replaced gets replaced when they put the machine back together. The young people I work with are grades 5-8.

Build or assemble, either way it is great that there are young people age 10-13 that even want to do anything today. What ever path they choose in life they will always be able to say they made a pile of parts into a vehicle that can be driven and then they drove it.

                Good job Scott

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
