    Hello all,

I live in the Santa Cruz mountains in California and I'm looking for a dual purpose machine - something that can tow a small trailer filled with dirt and rocks around the property and also something I can enjoy with the family time to time.

I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to Max IV, but don't know if I should be looking at anything else.

I like the footprint of the Max and the low weight. I have an electric car and don't feel comfortable towing over 1000lb on it uphill, mostly due to the reduced energy consumption.

Funny enough, a guy is selling a great condition Hydrotraxx very close to my house, but based on my research those machines are slow, heavy turds.

I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, I can do things like a top end engine rebuild on a dirt bike so I think my skills will be enough to maintain a 6x6.

I've only found two Max for sale in California and they are both without paperwork, which means registration for off road use will be difficult or impossible.

Are there any California members who can chime in? Maybe there is someone around with a Max that I can go check out? Beer is on me!

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

I believe Hydrotraxx are true 6 pump machines which is very nice and would get my pick any day over a chain driven machine. Chains work fine... until they don't.
Speed wise. I wouldn't call anything with 6 wheels "Fast" unless their a racing machine or your sense of speed is only based on thrill of a machine going faster than it feels safe (which most of these AATVs will at 15mph)

Make sure to check trailer weight, you can expect about the same weight of a trailer as your machine to carry it.

Are you looking for a skid steer? And amphibious?
Max IVs are one of the best no doubt in that category, but will come with a lot more wrench time vs say a normal SxS
