  • Too much time to think

So in scouring the web looking for a cheap outboard motor and vanguard and Kohler v twins, I came across a few airboat motor and fan setups. It seems that it would be straightforward enough to make a mount and quick connect mount for the controls. But I was wondering if anyone had tried to use a setup like that on a 6x6 for water travel? Or is a good old fashioned outboard or trolling setup as good as it gets in water? I'd enjoy hearing others thoughts or experiences.

Because the 980 is so tall it's not very stable in the water. Most of the apparatus would just add weight up high, thus increasing the instability. A trolling motor is better as the weigh (the motor) is down low.

Makes perfect sense. I was kind of wondering how many times I will scare myself before getting used to how it would handle in water. I am planning on building pontoons for if I know I'm spending all day or any significant time in the water.
