  • The difference between ANSI #50H roller chain and 50 or 530 chain

So I see a lot of people looking for ANSI 530 chain or even #50. 530 has the O-rings and 50 is standard. they are the same pitch. If you look at ANSI 50-H chain (the H stands for heavy) it should be a no brainer.

The 50-H is on the bottom and standard 50 on the top.

The load rating on the cheapest 50-H is 50% more than the best standard 50 or 530.
Always remember, you get what you pay for.
A stretched chain will wear out sprockets faster.
I don't like adjusting chains and I really don't like changing chains.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

        Max load = 1620 Lbs.
Average ultimate strength = 8150 Lbs.

I used the 50H and 530 O-ring and had longer life with the O-ring chain. Don't confuse stretch with wear. With stretch you will have pin bending and side plate binding. Wear is when the chain length increases and gets very sloppy.

You are correct. I use wear and stretch as the same. My bad.
HKK is prestretched and I have not observed any stretch. After 7 years I have not wore out the 50-H.
Be careful. There are some bad clones of 50-H out there. I bought some connector links on eBay. They were advertised as 50-H but definitely not. I sent em back.
