  • Clouds of White Smoke

    Hey guys,
My first time posting here, looks like an awesome forum!
I have the 650 HD Argo with the 23HP Vanguard engine. When I put it in storage a few months ago everything was working fine. The engine has low hours and one owner.
When I took it out recently to use it, it started blowing white smoke out the exhaust in the clouds.
I drained all the gas and replaced fuel filter but still the same.
When I checked the oil it looks as though there is gas in the base oil. I change the oil twice and it immediately turned black and looks washed down still.
Checked vent lines and all look okay.
Also had some oil around the air filter compartment.
Any ideas what I’m missing here?

    Re-capping what I’ve done:
When I used a suction pump to extract the oil from the dipstick inlet, is it possible the vacuum pulled gas back into the crankcase somehow...
Is it possible that if the fuel pump diaphragm was stuck open that XS fuel could be deposited into the head?????

I’ve seen many of those fuel pumps fail internally and allow fuel into crankcase. You should be able to hold vacuum on pulse line without drawing any fuel.

        Thanks!
Will try a fuel pump here shortly. Just drained the oil again to start from fresh and see how it goes
