  • Improved Amphib Drain Plug Idea for $9

Hey everyone, I just ordered some of these kayak drain plugs for my 6x6. They are drain plugs, O-rings, and the mounting base for $4.50 each ($9 for the pair)....the shipping was free too. I figured that this would be a huge improvement over stock drain plugs like on a Max and other machines. It looks like these will seal 100% water tight, and they will not wear the stock drain holes out by popping plastic or rubber boat plugs in and out. Here is the link.

Thanks Robbie. You really can't go wrong for $9. I am going to seal the base up against the tub with some stuff called "Goop" so I get a 100% water tight seal. It should work out very well.

six you might want to use 3m 5200 selent it;s approved for below the water line on boats . wall mart or west marine will have it as well as anyboat dealer . robbie

I think hydromike did that with one of his Attex. I have been wanting to do something like that to my Argo but wasn't sure if I could get a good enough seal. Let us know how it works out. It should be a big improvement on an older Argo where you have to pull the floor pan to remove the drain plugs.

Evil, I'd say as long as you have a flat mounting surface that isn't curved and you use the sealer RDR is using, you'd probably be good. I'll let you know how it works out.

what happens when you rip out the base plate and now you have a hole and 2 littler holes to seal up. it does look like a good idea but i dont know about that plate.

let us know how it works

I have some that I'm going to try on my Max II. I plan to put silicone on the plate before I install them. The drain holes on my Max are worn out and oversized so I'm running out of options. Even pvc pipe plugs are falling out so I've got nothing to lose. I'll report back once I install them although this project is low on my growing list of things to do.
