i was wondering if anyone on here has ever put a sound system on there 6x6. i was thinking about putting some wakeboard speakers in the rear of my rollcage and two little ones on the front facing me. i dont know where i am going to put the radio though. i was looking at the polaris razr set ups. i can hang that on my rollcage also. just brainstorming. any ideas will help

    thanx

I think some of the pictures of Matt O's Muddox have a sound bar hanging from the roll bar. That's a pretty neat / simple setup that looks self-contained. Speakers, radio, CD player, whatever you want all in one package. That way you can remove it if you want to.

        Marine sound system

I would go with a waterproof sound system. You can get them through West marine or Overtons. Water proof speakers are definatly the way to go. They make them small enough and you can mount them under the dash. The head unit is also weatherproof. The only problem you are going to have is drain on the battery. LarryW put up a great post about a 100 amp alternator. I am currently trying to design am mount that would run off a sprocket in between the mid and front set of chains. They make a very small alternator (5 and 1/2 inches long that puts out 100 amps. I will post when I get it figured out.

I have a stereo in a Max II mounted in the dash. The speakers are mounted on either side of the gas tank behind the dash. I had to put a special muffler on the machine, and route the exhaust around the back corner slightly. This made the machine very quiet, not much louder than a refrigerator running! The vangard generator handles it, as long as the lights are off. Stick with a low power radio and small magnet speakers. Tried a cd player, and that is hopeless. Stick with a cassette. Also observed real poor FM reception. I think the plastic body like a vette or a boat screws up radio reception. I went with a pull out type radio. When in alot of water, I pull it and zip bag it. I guess nowadays you could just use an ipod and ear buds.

I've thought about wiring mine with 2 (or 4) stereo jacks connected to a small 2 (or 4) channel stereo amplifier with my MP3 player plugged into the amp. Just plug in your noise cancelling headphones and you're good to go.

You would have to have a very loud conventional sound system with my machine if you wanted to hear the music.

yeah the noise is also a factor i was going to buy the biggest battery that i could put in the machine. i have no problem with charging it after every ride. as far as the noise that is why i said 2 speakers facing you from the front of the roll bar and 2 from the back. kind of like suround sound ha ha i am just worried about the battery holding up at night. alot of night riding here in texas

I saw an advertisement for this ATV sounds system in a magazine once and thought it wouldn't be very hard to make. It just looks like two abs 90s, two marine speakers, and an amplifier. Plus you wouldn't have to cut any holes in your machine.
