  • metal gas tank repair.

hey guys. anyone have any experience with gas tank sealant? i knocked a small hole in one and really need to fix it. it's a metal tank so it could be welded, but it's galvanized and that makes it hard to weld. i'm looking for a liquid that can be poured in and sloshed around to coat the inside
if anyone knows of such a product than they have had good luck with and where to get it that would be great.

Shoot; that's not the one I sold you, is it?

I've had good luck soldering steel and galvanized tanks, as long as there's no big gaps to fill. If you don't find the goop you're looking for you might try that.

            Hi,
I just bought a 3 step liquid metal gas tank repair from the local Motorcycle shop. It was $38.00 for the set and will repair small holes and coat the inside of the tank to seal any flaky rust. I am going to use it on my Jiger gas tank. This is the same type of system they use to restore old car fuel tanks.

                Gas Tank Re[air

Just Fill It Up With Water For A Couple Days And Soldered The Hole Shut/i Fixed A Motor Cycle Tank Like That Once My Brother In Law Got The Bolts Mixed Up And Screwed It Through The Bottom Of The Tank. I Used A Roofing Nail For Filler And Soldered Over It.

Silicon rubber will work also. Force tip to hole squeeze silicon into hole and back off and smear over flat. Let dry and it will stay. Worked for me years ago.

I have used caswell and I like it!

I have used both Kreem & Caswell and I much prefer Caswell. It is like liquid plastic. Depending on the temp. it is somewhere between Water & Honey. You may be able to tape the hole and then use the sealant but I would do a proper repair on the steel tank first and then seal it with caswell. Caswell says that it will do pin holes.
