I never heard of him, and yes it seems very fishy. I'd avoid it.

Tell him to get a London paper and take pics of the parts so that you can see the date on the paper and send the pics to you on the same day as the date of the paper. If he does and the dates match , then you MIGHT be able to trust him. Otherwise steer clear, there are a lot of scams out in the ether. This effort on his part would possibly show trustworthiness, but no one on here seems to know him....

            Ripped

A friend of mine was almost ripped by a guy in London on a truck sale. Had he not been a little ahead of the guy he would have given the person a truck(which was a classic) and paid to ship it. The fellow sent him a check which was bogas. I looked official but was missing a few numbers on the checking account. Please be careful guys. Besides the shipping would probably be pretty high from England. Just my 2 cents. I very dislike ripoff artist.

Most of these guys want easy money, that is why they are rippers. So if they will not put forth some effort to do a deal, stay away. I mean, how can you know, in that situation?

                  Scams

I agree why bother. But recently I saw some parts that I wanted to buy on Kijjii, I'm in Canada and the parts are in CA. I don't like wire transfers, or sending cheques etc., so I recommended UPS COD. Ship via UPS, they will collect the money from me, and send it to him. I said I would pay any extra fees. Guess what he didnt want to do it. He sent me an email that wrapping was a bother. I said go to any "Wrap-n-Pak" or UPS Store and they will box it for you, again I said I would pick up any charges. Guess what I never heard back from him.

I got an email from 'James Walken' in response to an ad I posted looking for Jiger parts. It is definitely a scam. I asked for pictures of the parts he had and he sent me Jiger 152 pictures that are from the 1st and 2nd page of Google image search and I know that the machine he sent a picture of is owned by a guy in Canada.

He gave me an address (his or not, who knows) to send the money too. Is there some sort of international internet fraud bureau I can give this info too? It would be a shame to allow him to continue fishing for someone to defraud.

I just wanted to throw in a quick thought regarding my experience with working with foreign countries. A couple years back, I had a Kadoo (awesome looking machine, by the way) for sale on ebay. I was messaged by a gentleman in Germany who desperately wanted it for his collection. He said he'd be interested in offering me $XXX dollars for it, and wanted to know if I was interested in working out a deal with him. He would work out shipping and have the machine picked up, yadda yadda yadda.... I had almost no work to do. I of course, was a bit skeptical, but when the money arrived in my PayPal account a couple hours later I was starting to feel a little better.

A 6x6 member (Marc Quitzau! Hi Marc! ) worked out every single detail with the machine. His shipper picked it up at the garage, drove it down to the docks in 'Jersey, put it on a boat and the Kadoo now resides in the Fatherland! The deal couldn't have worked out better for both of us. I would have driven it over to him, but the North Atlantic shipping lanes tend to get a bit dicey in the early months of the year.

I guess there's no real lesson to the story, excpet to say that a healthy dose of skepticism is always in our best interest, but sometimes things work out in our favor.

                          ~m

I do a lot of international shipping and while there are scamers out there, the vast majority of people ARE good. I deal a lot with the UK and had 0 problems thus far. THIS guy is obviously a scammer, but as others are said, be cautious, ask questions, and remember if it seems too good to be true, figure it's probably a scam and don't proceed in a way that you have no recourse, and you should be fine.

Was this done through 6x6 World? Someone let me know if that is how he is contacting you. If it is I can at least ban the guy.

For any Internet Fraud report it to the ICCC. Unfortunately I have had to do that in the past. Here's their site: Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Home
