  • I'm your AATV genie!

Let's say you win the lotto and you have unlimited funds, which AATV would you purchase and why? Or would you build your own?

For me, with unlimited funds I might build a shop like Whipper's and build my own. But there used to be a link on Route 6x6 of a company in Arkansas?? that made a pretty cool machine, but I don't see it anymore. The hull looked almost like a boat, and had a flat deck towards the front. It was hydrostatic drive and you could raise and lower the suspension. There was also a propeller on the back that was shielded with the hull. Looked like it was pretty big. Anyone remember this one?

2nd choice would either be a buffalo or Argo 8x8 with the escargo tracks being a must for either.

    Okay, TOTALLY unlimited?

With unlimited funs (TOTALLY UNLIMITED) I'd buy a restored diesel Unimog with a flatbed as a tow rig. It would be capable of holding 3 machines on the bed, and it would tow a 3-5 machine trailer in the back.

I'd hire Hulk Hogan to drive it for me, as I sip Heinkens in the passenger seat, and I would drive to Virginia, and I would buy the McKay from Don.

    That was easy.

Okay, I would probably get the new 1050 or 1150 T Max IV as a beat on rig, and I would use it to tow old Attex bodies out of the woods and build more racers. I simply can't get enough.

    Good question!

      That's awesome...I think too small I guess...

Don't let the Hulk's son near your rig though!

I'd have to buy a few, and a big enclosed trailer to haul at least 3 to a ride. All engines would be modified Briggs

        35 hp max II

keep my response 'cause it's my baby, and comfortable ride

maybe a crotch rocket Attex for a ride back East.. or West I guess @ Whipper badlands

As long as I have unlimited funds, I'll need to hire a private concern to locate any and all leftovers from the Attex and Hustler manufacturing facilities, if there are indeed any molds, jigs, or whatever left from the 70s and 80s. Along with that I suppose I'll need a legal group to pry the rights to the names and logos away from those who hold them. Seeing as the Hulkster's coming down for a visit anyway, maybe I'll recruit him to be top negotiator. I'll have the wife fry up some Anchor Bar style chicken wings to help persuade him.

Once that's done, I'll start a coorporation, someplace out in the heartlands, to manufacture the machines: Attex Tomahawk, Hustler Bigfoot, and two new machines called the ST500McKay and the Hustex (pic). The McKay will need no intro, but the Hustex is a mongrel Workhorse that may be the ugliest machine on the market, but loveable all the same.

I'll need a good crew to man the manufacturing plant, so I'll have to have a few of the crazies from this board to do R&D (you know who you are) and a bunch of test people, along with a fine webmaster (Mike).

          I've thought about this before.

          (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

Great thread...I'm with the rest of you though. I would have to have several machines. Whipper's Attex for high speed stuff, a high HP/torque Max II, and an Argo for a people mover. Or I guess with an unlimited budget I could get one that transforms to all three at the touch of a button...no wait, you wouldn't even touch a button, you would just say a command and it would have a maid that constantly followed me in a chase AATV to clean my machine at every stop to keep crap out of the chains, and a .... I could go on and on!

Yeah, I really like the idea of reviving the old brand names with updated products.........bring back the jet pump option on a new model Hustler. Maybe make it to where you could have one of those layout style boat blinds incorporated into the machine, so you just had to park it and pull the blind over your head and start hunting.

The real kicker with unlimited funds would be that once you had built the ultimate machine, issue an ATV challenge to all of the quad manufactures and invite individuals with modified ones too. Use the footage as promo material.

i'm thinking one of every type of machine i could get my hands on... you can't have too many toys!!!!! more than that, i'd buy land! a thousand acres or so in the woods. then build a shop, stock it with tools and invite you guys to come ride the trails!

What if we just started a company staffed by everyone on this board to produce the hustex?

Unlimited funds. I would build, build, build. First I would have to buy the test ground. Something around 7,000 acers, Maybe just buy "The Badland's" offroad park in Indiana. Then build a brand new shop, fill it with the latest and greatest CNC equipment, hire a couple of young engineers, and Whipper for a consultent.

The rig we built would have start with the best four stroke tech. avelable. I was thinking the new fuel injected 1000cc Yamaha snow mobile engine. With the turbo kit installed, horse power should never be an issue.

Next I need a new trans designed and built at our shop. It would have to handle 250hp, have three foward gears and reverse. It would also have to be light wieght. So we are looking at tightaineum, alluminum, and what ever other exotic materials we can use.

The body and frame would be a mixture of alluminum, and carbin fiber. A full suspension with coil over triple buy pass shocks, designed buy Swayaway. The drive train would be belt driven. No chains. Belts would lighter and quieter. HD have been useing cog belts for years on bikes.

                          OK...Hustex is a good name, I second.

Suspension...good. I'm also in favor of no chains. How about tracks? With a bullet-proof set of tracks you could get away with only driving one wheel, maybe even using wheel motors? Also, tracks like the Escargot supposedly provide pretty good water speed, which could assist a jet or propeller set-up.

Diesel might be cool too. I was also thinking that with a big, light body, you could incorporate built-in extras like tool storage, live well, beer storage, gun rack, midget stripper storage, etc....

Since no one has claimed it yet, I will put my name in the hat as official test pilot.

If I had unlimited funds I,d build it this way:

                              1. Body made out of the latest carbon fiber material
                              2. The frame, and every other metal part that was used inside the carbon fiber tub, would be made out of light weight titanium.
                              3. suspended seats inside the tub
                              4. Carbon fiber and titanium, torsion beam, suspension, that is similar to the "Crusher" 6x6 video shown on this forum. Less hang down underneath the tub to get caught or snaged on.
                              5. 29.5 Highlifter Out law tires ( the most agressive, self cleaning, mud tires on the market yet )
                              6. A high performance engine, 6 hydrolic wheel motors, and also, a hydrolic drive train system, designed by Honda motor corp. for amphibious application.
                              7. 50 mph ground speed, and able to tow 2,500 pds at 20 mph
                              8. 12 inches of ground clearance underneath the tub at the lowest
