  • Fishin' for answers

I just went fishing for the first time last weekend. I am really curious to know how many of you regularly fish from your AATV vs a kayak or other small boat. I realize the main purpose of an AATV is not to be a boat but is it really practicable/realistic to buy an AATV to fish small ponds, lakes and slow moving rivers or is it better to haul in a kayak or inflatable boat in your AATV to fish from?

I had my frontier 650 8X8 swimming last weekend. I didn't fish from it but I would say calm water fishing from the Argo would be more comfortable than an inflatable or small boat. With a passanger in the back the machine swam level and was more stable than a small boat. Just my opinion

You can't have too many vessels.. a ski boat, couple of inflatables, and an argo.. time and place for all of them. While working, I had the argo on a 2000 acre ranch, after work, I'd roll across it and into their fish filled ponds.

I think an Argo is perfect for fishing small ponds.

I have a Max IV with 26" tires.
I take the kid fishing. We troll across the lake until we find some fish. Perfect tolling speed some guys put a trolling motor on them. It takes a while to get
acoss the lake. I've had it in some rough water, it works great. I didn't fish much until I got the Max, it's a lot easier than launching a boat, just drive in and out. Just be careful not to get your fish line wrapped around you tires.
            Good fishin.

              Yep!!!

One of the reasons I own one too!!!!

Remote ponds and lakes are no problem.

              Still want a KID

I have been using my Conquest 8x8for fishin' every year since my wife bought it for me. They are basically a flat bottom boat with wheels. You have to move around slowly or she'll start rocking. I have a Minkota trolling motor for mine. I added jumper cables to the wiring & run it off the Argo battery. She moves thru the farm ponds & lakes very quietly & me & my son & now grandson fish quite often!

I am getting some J-wheelz for my Max IV 26" tires. They should make the max more stable in the water and possibly faster. It should make fishing better too. 500lbs of floatation the whole family can go in the Max an fish now.
Can only imagine what they would do on an Argo 8x8.
Nice wife you got to buy you one of those, I had to fight to get mine.
Another plus fishing from a 6x6 if you hit bottom, you won't ruin your prop
like when you hit bottom with your boat motor

Anybody remember the old "RONCO Pocket Fishermans"? I keep one in my T-boss just for those unplanned opportinities. Works great.
