  • Moose hunting with my Max IV

I got my moose two days ago while hunting near my home in Wasilla, Alaska. I packed out my moose-packing partner, our gear, and almost 400lbs of moose in one trip. I had to go back in because some unsecured gear fell out on the trip back. But I am pumped about this fine young moose and all the tasty winter meat!

I ride a brown '96 Max 4 (skid plate, roll cage, 26" Rawhides, 20hp, custom winch and tow plates) with a 2K front winch and a 4K come-along for back up. I pack 20'tow-strap, 2 chains and 2 hooks,a jeep jack, and a big block of PT wood. Also an axe and chainsaw. And mechanic tools. I have a tote with a tarp and bungees. Spare parts. Two rifles. Hey, arent I supposed to be able to have three passengers?

ok, here goes a real dumb question. How do you get 400lbs of moose in the back of your aatv? I cant imagine one could just lift it in, do you have some type of pully system? Congrats on your moose. I'm really hoping I will be able to call Alaska home next spring.

          Roadtorque,
Well, sounds like I'll see you in the woods next season! Like BC said, you just quarter him up and throw him in bags.

BCsteve, I have always been jealous of huge BC moose. We have big ones on the Yukon etc. but just look at Boon and Crockett. All BCs.
