  • ga mud bug introduction

Hi, folks I,m new to 6x6 world, I have a 2008 frontier with 25" maxxis mud bugs tires on 10" wide rims. Its awsome in mud with no water and swims OK in water. Swims the same as my max II, but not as good as the 24" argo tires it came with stock. On hardpack ground it turns the same as stock tires, in soft terrain a little harder, but it is a wider tire at 12" versus 10" stock tire The ride is not as good, but I have a good back (MOTO X RIDER KX450F), so thats a rundown of my machine.

Welcome to 6x6 World and it sounds like you have a couple of cool AATVs. If you have any pictures upload them in the gallery for everyone to see. There has been some good discussion on the mud bug tires here in the tire forum lately so maybe you can add to that discussion as well and help answer any questions that come up.

      thanks for the intro!

Welcome! Where in GA are you from? I used to live north of Atlanta in the Kennesaw/Acworth area. I actually got one of my friends into 6 wheelers and he bought a Hustler with a 16HP Kohler and he's restoring it now.

            Ga Mudbug,

Since you have made the switch from the 24 inch, Argo Fronteer tires, to the 25 inch, Maxis Mudbugs ,how much clearance do you now have between the tires?

3" between tires, I looked at the swamp fox and personally I think the mudbugs have a better cupping at the end of the tread like a prop on a outboard motor

                Ga Mud Bug,

My friend Dan , who runs the Swamp Fox Plus tires on his Max IV , has the front and rear set of tires facing with the " V" foward, and the center set of tires with the "V" facing rearward. He says this gives him the fastest water speed with the tires mounted this way. What direction do you have your Mud Bug tires facing?

We have discussed this on the phone... forward, and backwards, with forward being the fastest.

                    Ga Mud Bug,

Yes,, Lee , I remember we had a "good conversation" on the phone about your new fronteer, and also about the Mud Bug tires that you now have on it. It seems like your really having fun with it , showing all the 4-wheelers what a good 6x6 amphib is capable of .

Keep us all posted on your amphibious adventures with your Mud Bug equipted Fronteer , and your 4-wheeling friends. I,m sure you,ve found out by now, that owning a 6x6 amphib is a world of fun , and a lot more versatile than any 4-wheeler !
