need advise on Buying a 6x6

I'm new to the form because I want to get into a 6x6 amphibious for good reason to places I cant with my ATV,So my first question is if I buy used from a dealer or private what should I be looking for when I test one out or any funny noise I should be hearing my choice would would be an Argo or max which of the two would you prefer for dependability I read allot about them looks like an Argo is pretty good choice but I'm not sure,my usage would be crossing pretty calm water on the river by me slow flowing and hill climbing with occasional ruff rocky terrain any help would be great before I buy one

Hi Ron, welcome to the site. Really your best bet is to look around the forums for a while to get a feel for each machine via other member's experiences. Don't be afraid to use the search feature either as there are several in-depth threads already on similar questions to yours.

Briefly when you go to look at an AATV you will want to check for mechanical wear on bearings, chains, chain guides, sprockets, etc. Try to get a machine that has been taken care of. Something with a dirty tub is usually something that hasn't been cared for.

The best way to decide which brand of AATV best suits you is to try to find members local to you and join them for a ride. See each machine first hand and make a decision based on that. If you have trouble locating someone close by just start a new thread in the http://www.6x6world.com/forums/local-6x6-world-members/ forum. A lot of people on this site would be happy to have you join them.

Hi Ron , I Was Also In Your Shoes Not To Long Ago. I Ended Up With 2, 1986 Max Iv And A Max Ii Both Used. These Things Are Very Easy To Work On Not To Say Th Argo Is Not But If I Get A Chance I Will Get An Argo Too. But As Far As New Oor Used? I Would Look For A Used It Can Save You Alot Of Cash.... Example I Just Purchased The 2004 Max Ii $2500 A Few Weeks Ago ... As Long As The Engine And Trannny Are In Good Working Condition , I Dont Think You Can Go Wrong.... Good Luck If You Got Questions This Is The Place To Come.....

Isn't it a pain to capitalize the first letter of every word when typing Hats off to ya'

The site does that automatically if you type in all CAPS so that it is easier to read and doesn't come across as yelling. It's the only way to get rid of the all caps when someone leaves their CAPS LOCK on without restricting everyone else from using capital letters all together.
