  • Throttle mod

Has anyone replaced the twist throttle with a foot pedal? Arthritis prevents me from riding long with the twisting action.
Old but not dead yet! Thanks. By the way, I'm new at this so what exactly is a "tag" and a "trackback"?

I tryed that a couple of yrs ago on a argo I had. Not a good idea. To hard to hold a constant speed when bounceing up and down on rough terrane. I had bad wrists so I went to a thumb type trottle where you only have to squeeze it. Alot easyer to use and now I dont have to worry about running the person ahead of me down.

I thought a throttle had two positions......on and off. (full/idle) Don't people know enough to get out of the way?

Hi guys, my wrist throttle is in bad shape and as i see your post, i think it would be a nice upgrade on my Argo. What type or make/model do you use to replace the previous one... Does it fit on the old style long mecanical '' t '' bar... I got a 18 twin Brigg engine in the tub... Do you have any pics of what it lok like...

Thanks for the tip. I ordered a thumb throttle today. I think it will be much better than the foot pedal. I hadn't thought of the bouncing up/down but your right. I appreciate the tip.

Hi Martwell, I ordered the throttle from Branden (realatv.com) and it arrived 3 days later. the cost was $110 inc. shipping. I ordered from him because I had called him and asked a few questions about the machine I was intersted in.. He answered every question without hesitation even though it wasn't a sale for him. That gets high marks in my judgement so I sent him my business. I don't know the brand but if you call him he will surely answer your questions. I [plan on installing the throttle in the next few days. It looks pretty straight forward to me. Famous last words,.....

Final note on throttle. It was an easy install and works great! I did take someones advice (apologies for not remembering who) and turned the throttlle around so that I use my finger rather than my painful thumb and that was a real good idea, so thanks to whoever it was. I also finished my dirt cheap cab install using PVC. Other than some shaking around on rough patches it works pretty well. I doubt that it will hold up for a lot of years but what can you expect for the cost involved.
