  • Tricks to beat the trash

I just got through giving the 950 a good cleaning, spent about 2 hrs on it(at least). Having had an exceptionally cold winter, cleaning had not been the regular thing it usually is. This was due in part to the fact that the waterhoses seemed to never thaw on the days I was off work. So you can imagine the mess I had. I guess I must have collected a limb, twig, briar and 5 leaves for every minute of riding that I did through the whole winter. Which got me thinking surely the pros on the forums have some tricks to keeping this mess out of their machines.
So, I would like to hear some of your ideas and tricks to beat the trash.

First let me lay this on ya: the wife is pretty handy with a sewing machine, ya see. I've had an idea for a while, that I have yet to work up the nerve to ask her. I'm thinking of a "splash skirt" type thingy, similar to the ones kayakers use to keep water out . Made from some kind of fishnet type material, with drawstrings or velcro to close up unoccupied passenger holes which would open up enough to allow easy ingress/egress, and velcro around the edges for easy removal What are your thoughts and tricks?

    Hello Brushcutter,

I got a frient who bought a kind of bag/tarp made especially for Argo 8x8 rear cargo space. This thick material is hang all around the contour of the cargo space to prevent debris from gooing thrue cracks and eventually under the floor. He also got a nice soft cover made with the same material that goes over the same cargo space. You can do the same in the front area where you put your feet and be abble to collect debris before the go under the floor...

Yeah, something like that, but covering the entire passenger area. Ventilation is the reason I would use the mesh material I mentioned. Down here in the summer we reach temps up to 110deg f, add a constant humidity that hovers in the upper 80% and tops out in the mid 90% range and you can see why the breathable material is more desirable. Although this past winter I was considering building a fire in the front seat next to me. My thoughts are that, yes, SOME trash will still get through the mesh. But MOST of it should be small enough that it can just be washed out, and I should not have to dig out a bunch of sticks and leaves.
