  • setting up a quick 6x6, platform, engine etc. advice-

First I would like to say I am new to the forum and hello to all-

I have been looking at 6x6 amphibs for a while (mainly max atvs)

I am ready to take the plunge, although in order for me to stick with my quad buddies ill need to make is a 45-55 mph machine.

What are your suggestions per engine and drive? It sounds like the t20 is bullet proof, so im assuming a max machine will be my best bet. What engine should I look for to hop up, that comes in the max's? Or am i better off substituting an engine in that did not originally come in max's ?

ive seen come videos of some pretty quick machines on here, so i think ive come to the right place

any and all advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks
    Nate

Nate, first of all welcome aboard. If you want to make the Max a fast machine you should probably get the 18HP Briggs in it from the factory and talk to forum member whipper-ag about hopping it up. He has a Briggs in his Attex and it is really built and it will run 50 mph. Trust me, that is super fast in a 6 wheeler! I drove some very fast machines and even doing 40 mph feels more like 60. That engine with a Borg Warner T-20 in a Max would be an unbeatable combination and it would be a very mean machine. Good luck with it!

Nate, welcome to the greatest hobbie on the planet. So you wanna go fast?
Your on the right track,a Max or Attex. I've checked with RI and they won't sell a car without a motor. Nothing they sell will give you the rush your looking for. You'll have to do it all on your own. Check this site out. Performance V-twins.com.Making it go fast is the easy part, being able to control it is another story. Go to the Max & Attex springer threads for more info. here's a clip of my Attex before the springer kit doing 58mph,(50HP)
You could turn the tables and your quad buds trying to keep up with you. Whipper

        thanks guys,

Doing the work my self wont be a problem. I work at machine shop, so that helps.

I guess I will start my search for a MAX 2 with solid axles and a 18hp briggs. Whipper if you dont mind sharing some secrets ill probably pm you with some questions about set ups and any trouble spots you have run into.

how about reliability with your 50 hp set up? any issues.

        Thanks again
