  • 6x6 or 4 wheeler

I am a newbie. I have never had the chance to ride in or drive a 6x6, but have been interested in them for several years. I have owned several quads. I have found a person that would trade me a late 70's or early 80's maxII for my quad. My quad is 4x4 with multiple ranges. I use it for hunting and trail riding and was wondering if i would regret the trade. Being that i have never got to try a 6x6 i thought that i would ask to see if if people liked 6x6's or quads better and why. Also i forgot to mention the max already has been up graded to a 18 hp v-twin 4 stroke.

If the Max has #50 chain, good tires, good bearings, a good tub and upper body, and looks like it was well taken care of or recently restored I would do it. Although, how much is your quad worth......I think you can look it up on N.A.D.A. Official Used Car Guide Company If you could post up some pictures of the Max that would help us give you some more advice. If it were an even trade I would do it in a second! 6 wheelers are superior to 4 wheelers in so many ways. They can haul more, they are more stable, they are easier to work on, they are cheaper to get parts for, they float, they keep you clean, you can go through more mud, they are safer, you can haul more people, the list goes on and on and on. I drove many 4 wheelers, and I would never in a second consider one over a 6 wheeler. They are just not as capable and they are inferior machines. I even drove lifted ones with 27" mud tires and all the options and the things still didnt compare to any of the 6 wheelers in my fleet. The only thing that you would lose is the top speed, but for going over extremely rough terrain speed is not needed. Good luck with it!

          6x6 or four wheeler.

I have modified 500 suzuki Vincent with 27" itp radials and several other modifications. I also have a MaxIV with the 27 horse Kawasaki engine and 27 inch tires. Both are fun and well suited to certain things but i enjoy the Max a lot more. Every time I take my four wheeler out I spend my time thinking, wow if I had my max I would be going throught that impossible looking swamp section there. With my 4x4 I won't ever try it unless one of my sons is behind me in the Max. The quad is good for trail riding and checking out areas because you can generally cover ground faster. The quad is also good for forrest riding and areas with a lot of fallen trees and logs (everywhere here)But when the going gets somewhere between rough and impossible please give me my MAX. I can run throught the swamp with four people and stay dry while my quad cannot follow me through the hard muddy, wet and swampy areas with out getting stuck. My Max goes through the same areas without a problem.

my brother has both a 2x4 and 4x4 atv. I used to use the 4x4 one to get around and mr fearless would follow me around with the 2x4. Now that I have my Argo he has to use the 4x4 to keep up and there been times that he has sead that trail scared him. Right now most boats cant get into the lakes but I still can, and the fishing good
