  • Self recovery sticks.

Well folks, if this works, I have attached a video of how to use the self recovery sticks that I made. These are used when you are stuck and there isn't really anything to anchor a winch cable to for self recovery. I'm not the greatest welder, nor am I a hollywood producer, so bear with it and I hope you enjoy it.

YouTube - 6X6 home made self recovery anchor sticks.

After watching the video I realized you tube cut it to 8 minutes. So I reloaded the second part and have added it here. Sorry.

    Jeff:
Really cool. The angle iron should hold up to even the heaviest 8-wheelers, I bet the lighter machines like my Attex could use just one in most situations. You're red-white-blue setup for remembering order is ingenious, really. No finding numbers or anything like that. I like em, and don't worry about pretty welds, if you're stuck, no-one cares if they've seen prettier welds, they just want out. (And from the video they look great anyway)

Very cool idea without a doubt. I'm gonna have to make a set of those. What would you think of connecting the 3 together with cable instead of the metal bars?? Plus you could keep them all conected and literally just roll them up when not in use. Just an idea possibly since i'm a weak welder as well.

Every invention has room for improvement. Good idea, have at it and post pics.

Per your suggestion, I have modified these sticks, and am quite pleased with the simplicity it created. Plus it knocked off 1/2 pound of weight and made them a bit less bulky. (Pigeon welds paid off after all! LOL) Thanks for the suggestion. .......Jeff

Jeff t-boss thats what i meant and they look great. Now start marketing those things and become rich haha. And what thickness cable are you using for connecting them?

That's 3/16 cable. I probably could have gone with 5/32, but 3/16 is what I had laying around.

I've had the same thing for years came with a hand winch, but mine are joined by chain from the top of the first to the middle of the second and top of second to middle of third. This way is better for leverage on "sticks". Mine are also out of angle and they pull on the internal "V". They are real good to use.

Nice job Jeff Love the red, white and blue concept, keeps things simple. Sometimes just a simple tug is all that is needed to get a bite for traction. Keep up the good work. Get a patten on it.

thats a real nice twist on a stake-hold-fast.small and easy to pack in machine.

                        good stuff!
